Tokyo Police Club
Tokyo Police Club was an indie rock band from Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. Founded in 2005, it consisted of vocalist and bassist Dave Monks, keyboardist Graham Wright, guitarist Josh Hook, and drummer Greg Alsop. The band found early success with their 2006 debut EP '' A Lesson in Crime,'' which they followed with several popular releases including the albums ''Elephant Shell'' and '' Champ'' in 2008 and 2010, respectively. During the 2010s, they released three other studio albums. Among other nominations, the band had been twice nominated for the Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year, in 2011 for ''Champ'' and in 2019 for '' TPC''. They disbanded at the end of November 2024 following a final tour. History (venue)
History is a music venue in Toronto, Ontario, Canada. It is located at 1663 Queen Street East. The venue hosts various events such as concerts, live entertainment, galas and community programs and events. Background The building was previously known as Greenwood Teletheatre and was used for off-track betting. Smith EP is a four-track EP that was released by Canadian indie group Tokyo Police Club on October 23, 2007 in Canada and November 6, 2007 in the US. A download version of the Smith EP was originally available in the Spring of 2007 with only the first three songs and a different cover. Reviews Reviews of the EP were positive but disappointed by the release of an even shorter EP than A Lesson in Crime instead of a full-length LP album. Osheaga Festival
The Osheaga Music and Arts Festival () is a multi-day music festival in Montreal, Quebec, that is held every summer at Parc Jean-Drapeau on Île Sainte-Hélène. The festival takes place on six stages with various audience capacities. Translated from their French equivalents, they are called "River Stage", "Mountain Stage", "Green Stage", "Trees Stage", "Valley Stage", and "Zone Piknic Electronik". Edgefest
Edgefest was an annual outdoor rock festival in Canada. It was founded by staff members of Toronto radio station CFNY-FM. POP Montreal is an annual List of music festivals, music festival occurring in Montreal, Quebec, Canada, in the early fall, usually at the end of September or the beginning of October. More than 400 bands are scheduled to play in more than 50 venues across the city, mostly located in the Mile End, Montreal, Mile End area. ''TPC'' is the fourth and final studio album by Canadian indie rock group Tokyo Police Club, released by Dine Alone Records on October 5, 2018. The album reunites the band with their early, spontaneous style as well as with '' Champ'' producer Rob Schnapf. The album was well-received by fans and critics and was nominated for the 2019 Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year. Two companion records were released in 2020: a self-released collection of demos as well as the Dine Alone-released EP ''TPC DLX''. Juno Award For Alternative Album Of The Year
The Juno Award for Alternative Album of the Year is presented annually at Canada's Juno Awards to honour the best album of the year in the alternative rock and/or indie rock genres. The award was first presented in 1995 under the name Best Alternative Album, and adopted its current name in 2003. ''Champ'' is the second studio album by Tokyo Police Club that was released on June 8, 2010. ''Champ'' is the band's second studio album, after the release of ''Elephant Shell'' in 2008. Tokyo Police Club released the album's first single, "Breakneck Speed" for free download on their website on March 26, 2010. The next singles released off the album were "Wait Up (Boots of Danger)" followed by "Gone". Reception As with their debut EP, ''A Lesson In Crime'', ''Champ'' was met with a mixed to positive press response, being lauded for their upbeat consistency from one album to the next. It was released in the United States, Canada and Australia on April 22, 2008, by Saddle Creek Records Saddle Creek Records is an American record label based in Omaha, Nebraska.
