Toh Wei Soong
Toh Wei Soong (; born 11 September 1998) is a Singaporean freestyle and butterfly swimmer. He was a bronze medallist in the S7 50 metre Freestyle at the 2018 Commonwealth Games and a two-time gold medallist at the 2018 Asian Para Games for the S7 50 metre Freestyle and the S7 100 metre Freestyle events. At the 2020 Summer Olympics, Toh finished fourth in the S7 50 metre Butterfly final, missing a bronze medal by 0.16 seconds. Early life and education At the age of 2, Toh was affected by Transverse myelitis, a condition which is caused by the inflammation of the spinal cord and has affected his lower nervous system. The eldest of two children in his family, Toh studied in Anglo-Chinese School (Junior) and Anglo-Chinese School (Independent), graduating from the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme in 2017. The men's 50m freestyle S7 event at the 2018 Commonwealth Games was held on 9 April at the Gold Coast Aquatic Centre. This was the first time the event had been held at a Commonwealth Games. Transverse Myelitis
Transverse myelitis (TM) is a rare neurological condition wherein the spinal cord is inflamed. The adjective ''transverse'' implies that the spinal inflammation (myelitis) extends horizontally throughout the cross section of the spinal cord; the terms ''partial transverse myelitis'' and ''partial myelitis'' are sometimes used to specify inflammation that affects only part of the width of the spinal cord. TM is characterized by weakness and numbness of the limbs, deficits in sensation and motor skills, dysfunctional urethral and anal sphincter activities, and dysfunction of the autonomic nervous system that can lead to episodes of high blood pressure. The 2018 Asian Para Games ( id, Pesta Olahraga Difabel Asia 2018, ''Asian Para Games 2018''), officially known as the 3rd Asian Para Games and also known as Indonesia 2018, was a pan-Asian multi-sport event that held from 6 to 13 October 2018 in Indonesia's capital city of Jakarta. The event paralleled the 2018 Asian Games and was held for Asian athletes with disability. It was the first time Indonesia hosted the games. The 2018 Commonwealth Games, officially known as the XXI Commonwealth Games and also known as Gold Coast 2018, was an international multi-sport event for members of the Commonwealth of Nations, Commonwealth that were held on the Gold Coast, Queensland, Australia, between 4 and 15 April 2018. 2013 Asian Youth Para Games
The 2013 Asian Youth Para Games ( ms, Sukan Para Remaja Asia 2013), officially known as the 2nd Asian Youth Para Games, was an Asian youth disabled multi-sport event held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia from 26 to 30 October 2013. Around 1200 athletes from 29 participating nations participated at the games which featured 14 sports. This was the first time Malaysia hosted the games. Malaysia is the second nation to host the Asian Youth Para Games after Japan. The games was opened and closed by Khairy Jamaluddin at the Putra Stadium.
