Ungheni District
Ungheni () is a district () in the central part of Moldova, bordering Romania, with the administrative center at Ungheni. The other major city is Cornești. As of 1 January 2011, its population was 117,400. History Villages with ancient historical credentials are Buciumeni, Busila and Ungheni, they are documented in the period 1428–1430. About noble families who ruled the territory known as follows: the 1462 Pan Bratul, Procelnic's son, reigned here. This Procelnic was Stoian, advice nobleman in the reign of Alexander the Good, and participant in the Battle of Grunwald in 1422. Poșta Moldovei () is the company responsible for postal service in Moldova. It was founded in April 1993. History The company was founded on 1 April 1993, as a result of the division of the postal communications sector from that of telecommunications. They were awarded the status of national operator in 1995, and thus given the sole rights to operate a postal system in Moldova. Since June 2005, the Poșta Moldovei is under the direction of the Ministry of Information Technologies and Communications. They operate over 1100 post office branches in the country, and process approximately 40 million parcels and letters per year. They employ around 6000 people.
