Toccata Press
Toccata Classics is an independent British classic music label founded in 2005. The founder of Toccata Classics is Martin Anderson, a music journalist. The label was founded primarily to promote unrecorded works by lesser-known composers, including British composers. By 2022 there were around 600 albums in the catalogue. The sponsors of the label were the late Josef Suk, with Vladimir Ashkenazy and Jon Lord. Josef Suk (violinist)
Josef Suk (8 August 1929 – 7 July 2011) was a Czech violinist, violist, chamber musician and conductor. In his home country he carried the title of National Artist. Suk's recordings of Dvořák's Violin Concerto, especially those with the Czech Philharmonic and conductors Karel Ančerl and Václav Neumann, are taken as references. Youth and studies Josef Suk was born in Prague, the grandson of the composer and violinist Josef Suk, and great-grandson of the composer Antonín Dvořák. After finishing high school in 1945 he entered the Prague Conservatory (1945-1951), where his teachers were Jaroslav Kocián, Norbert Kubát and Karel Šnebergr. The most important of all his teachers was Jaroslav Kocián, who started teaching him privately when Suk was 7 years old. Led by him, Suk mastered the violin art drawing from the spectacular interpretative art of his teacher, who was specific with his noble technique of tone formation. Steve Elcock
Steve Elcock (born 1957) is an Anglo-French composer residing in France, whose style has been placed by critics in the context of composers such as Jean Sibelius, Sibelius, Arthur Honegger, Honegger, William Walton, Walton and Malcolm Arnold, Arnold. Elcock himself states that he was particularly inspired by the music of Swedish composer Allan Pettersson. Elcock is self-taught as a composer. In recent years, his works, which include ten symphony, symphonies and a variety of orchestral and chamber pieces, have begun to be performed publicly; a number of them have now been recorded. Life Elcock was born in Chesterfield, Derbyshire, in 1957. He began to compose at the age of 15, and although he received violin lessons at school, he is self-taught as a composer.
