A record producer or music producer is a music creating project's overall supervisor whose responsibilities can involve a range of creative and technical leadership roles. Typically the job involves hands-on oversight of recording sessions; ensuring artists deliver acceptable and quality performances, supervising the technical engineering of the recording, and coordinating the production team and process. The producer's involvement in a musical project can vary in depth and scope. Sometimes in popular genres the producer may create the recording's entire sound and structure. Brighton Rock (band)
Brighton Rock was a Canadian hard rock band, who released three albums in their home country during the 1980s and 1990s. They broke up in 1991, before reuniting and releasing a live album in 2002. History The band was formed in 1982 in Niagara Falls by guitarist Greg Fraser and bassist Stevie Skreebs, along with vocalist Gerry McGhee, keyboardist Martin Victor and drummer Mark Cavarzan. Initially, the band's name was Heart Attack. After their song "Breakin' Down The Barricade" was included in CILQ's 1984 ''Q107 Homegrown'' compilation, they changed their name to Brighton Rock and released the EP ''Brighton Rock'' the following year. They signed to WEA for their 1986 debut album, '' Young, Wild and Free'', which was produced by Michael Wagener with pre-production assistance from Jack Richardson. Jerry Cantrell
Jerry Fulton Cantrell Jr. (born March 18, 1966) is an American guitarist, singer, and songwriter. He is best known as the founder, lead guitarist, co-lead vocalist, and main songwriter of the rock band Alice in Chains. The band rose to international fame in the early 1990s during Seattle's grunge movement and is known for its distinctive vocal style and the vocal harmony, harmonized vocals between Cantrell and Layne Staley (and later Cantrell and William DuVall). Cantrell started to sing lead vocals on Alice in Chains' 1992 EP ''Sap (EP), Sap''. After Staley's death in 2002, Cantrell took the role of Alice in Chains' lead singer on most of the songs from the band's post-Staley albums, ''Black Gives Way to Blue'' (2009), ''The Devil Put Dinosaurs Here'' (2013), and ''Rainier Fog'' (2018), with DuVall harmonizing with him in the new songs and singing Staley's vocals in the old songs in live concerts. ''Grade 8'' is the debut album by American nu metal/rap metal music group Grade 8. It was released on February 11, 2003 via Lava Records. The album failed to gain commercial success and resulted in Grade 8 being dropped from Lava. Musical style ''Grade 8'' features a pummeling rap metal style with thunderous, staccato riffing in B tuning and harshly delivered rapping. Songs contain chugging double bass as well as moody, atmospheric sections. Comparable to Machine Head's '' Burning Red'', the album's style is largely characteristic of nu metal which had faded from mainstream popularity by 2003. Frontman Dustin Tooker explained, "It's just an honest expression of how we feel. We wrote a record we're huge fans of, just being music fans." Grade 8 (stylized as grade 8) was an American nu metal band from New Jersey. History Formation and ''Grade 8'' (1996–2003) Grade 8's origins can be traced back to the East Coast, specifically the state of New Jersey. Guitarist Dustin Tooker played in a local band and, needing a last-minute replacement for the band's vocalist at a show, recruited his brother Ryan. This new lineup proved to be successful and was well received by the local music community, giving birth to Grade 8. The brothers continued to play shows in the New Jersey area over the next two years, with a constantly changing rhythm section. The name of the band stemmed from two meanings: the first referring to the grade 8 metal that is used for bolts that Dustin Tooker would use when working as a mechanic. Fishbone is an American rock band from Los Angeles, California. Formed in 1979, the band plays a fusion of ska, punk, funk, metal, reggae, and soul. AllMusic has described the group as "one of the most distinctive and eclectic alternative rock bands of the late 1980s. With their hyperactive, self-conscious diversity, goofy sense of humor, and sharp social commentary, the group gained a sizable cult following". ''Transgression'' is the sixth studio album by American industrial metal band Fear Factory. It was released in the UK on August 22, 2005 through Calvin Records and released in the US and Canada the next day on August 23. Guest appearances include Billy Gould, the bassist of Faith No More, and Lamb of God guitarist Mark Morton, who co-wrote the song "New Promise". The album was released as an enhanced CD with access to the exclusive Fear Factory website. It was also released as an enhanced DualDisc with the DVD side featuring the whole album in (48,000 kHz), music videos and "The Making of Transgression" video. One could also retrieve another bonus track, entitled "My Grave", by putting the CD into the computer and clicking the 'Music' section at the special website. Fear Factory is an American industrial metal band formed in Los Angeles in 1989. Throughout the band's career, they have released ten full-length albums and have evolved through a succession of sounds, all in their main style of industrial metal. Over the years, Fear Factory has seen frequent changes in its lineup, with lead vocalist Burton C. Bell being the only consistent member for 31 years until his departure in 2020. Guitarist Dino Cazares is the only original member still in the band. ''Terra Incognita'' is the third studio album by singer-songwriter and guitarist, Chris Whitley, released in 1997. It was produced primarily by Chris Whitley, Toby Wright, and Dougie Bowne. The album was recorded primarily by Mark Howard (assisted by Wayne Lorenz) at Boulevard Teatro in Oxnard, California. It was mixed primarily by Toby Wright (assisted by John Seymour) at Electric Lady Studios in New York City. Chris Whitley
Christopher Becker Whitley (August 31, 1960 – November 20, 2005) was an American blues/rock singer-songwriter and guitarist. Whitley's sound was drawn from the traditions of blues, jazz and rock and he recorded songs by artists from many genres. During his 25-year career, he released 17 albums. While two songs landed in the top 50 of the Billboard mainstream rock charts and he received two Independent Music Awards, he remained on the fringes of both the blues and alternative-rock worlds. He died in 2005 of lung cancer at the age of 45. Early life Whitley was born in Houston, Texas to a father who was an art director in corporate advertising and a mother who was a sculptor and painter. He had a three years younger brother named Dan, and a sister named Bridget.
