Abigail Evelyn Titmuss (born 8 February 1976) is an English actress, television personality and poker player. She is also a former glamour model and nurse. Early life and education Born in Newark-on-Trent in Nottinghamshire, Titmuss grew up in Ruskington, Lincolnshire; both of her parents were teachers. She took her A-levels at Kesteven and Sleaford High School, where she played the clarinet. When she was 17, her parents divorced and her father moved to Argyll, Scotland. Nursing Titmuss graduated from City University at the teaching hospital St Bartholomew's Hospital in 1998. She completed a nursing diploma, because she "was interested in becoming a doctor, but hadn't taken A level Chemistry" and became a staff nurse at London's University College Hospital. Christopher Titmuss (born 22 April 1944) is Britain's senior Dharma teacher. He offers retreats on ethics, insight meditation (''vipassana'') and wisdom. He is the author of 20 books on such themes as mindfulness, spirituality, teachings of the Buddha and global issues. He has lived in Totnes, Devon, United Kingdom since 1982. Biography Titmuss was born on Bell Farm, Middleton-in-Teesdale, County Durham in the north of England on 22 April ( Earth Day) 1944. His mother brought him up as a practicing Roman Catholic. He went to St. Anthony's Roman Catholic Primary School in Anerley, south London. He attended Fairchilds Junior School in New Addington, Surrey. Richard Titmuss
Richard Morris Titmuss (1907–1973) was a pioneering British social researcher and teacher. He founded the academic discipline of social administration (now largely known in universities as social policy) and held the founding chair in the subject at the London School of Economics. His books and articles of the 1950s helped to define the characteristics of Britain's post World War II welfare state and of a universal welfare society, in ways that parallel the contributions of Alva Myrdal and Gunnar Myrdal in Sweden. He is honoured in the Richard Titmuss Chair in Social Policy at the LSE, which is currently held by Julian Le Grand. Titmuss's association with eugenics extended beyond the British Eugenics Society, to encompass other personal and intellectual connections. He is also honoured by the annual Richard Titmuss Memorial Lecture in the Paul Baerwald School of Social Work at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel.
