Tiny Habits
Tiny Habits is an American folk-pop group formed in Boston in 2022. The trio consists of Berklee College of Music students Cinya Khan and Maya Rae and alumnus Judah Mayowa. Their first EP, ''Tiny Things,'' was released in April 2023. Their debut album ''All For Something'' was released May 24, 2024. History Khan, Rae, and Mayowa met as students at the Berklee College of Music in Boston in the spring of 2021, during the COVID-19 pandemic. They happened to live in the same dorm, and would sing covers of old songs in each other's dorm rooms they posted to social media. After multiple of their videos went viral on TikTok and Instagram, the three decided to officially form a group in January 2022. Tiny Habits has attracted praise for their harmonies, including by Justin Timberlake and David Crosby, and the group has toured alongside multiple folk and indie artists. Tiny Desk
Tiny Desk Concerts is a video series of live concerts hosted by NPR Music at the desk of '' All Songs Considered'' host Bob Boilen in Washington, D.C. The first Tiny Desk Concert came about in 2008 after Boilen and NPR Music editor Stephen Thompson left South by Southwest frustrated that they couldn't hear the music over the crowd noise. Thompson joked that the musician, folk singer Laura Gibson, should just perform at Boilen's desk. A month later Boilen arranged for her to do just that, making an impromptu recording and posting it online. The name is taken from Boilen's 1970s psychedelic dance band called Tiny Desk Unit. The series has previously drawn criticism for narrowness in the musical genres it includes—described as focused on " hipster-infused indie rock" by Zachary Crockett at ''Vox''—to the exclusion of genres like country and hip-hop. Mom + Pop Music is a New York City-based independent record label whose current roster includes Courtney Barnett, Madeon, Tom Morello, Porter Robinson, Tycho, Tash Sultana, Sunflower Bean, Beach Bunny, Caamp, Del Water Gap and more. Founder and president Michael Goldstone launched the label in the summer of 2008, with the help of Q Prime Management owners Cliff Burnstein and Peter Mensch. Folk-pop
Folk-pop is a musical style that may be 1) contemporary folk songs with large, sweeping pop arrangements, or 2) pop songs with intimate, acoustic-based folk arrangements. Recording production values created a unblemished style that appealed to a mass audience, and thus led to commercial success as measured by high record sales, particularly as illustrated by hit records reaching the Top 40 on AM radio in the United States. David Crosby
David Van Cortlandt Crosby (born August 14, 1941) is an American singer, guitarist, and songwriter. In addition to his solo career, he was a founding member of both the Byrds and Crosby, Stills & Nash. Crosby joined the Byrds in 1964. They got their first number-one hit in April 1965 with a cover of " Mr. Tambourine Man" by Bob Dylan. Crosby appeared on the Byrds' first five albums and produced the original lineup's 1973 reunion album.
