Tinderbox (application Software)
Tinderbox is a personal content management system and personal knowledge base. It is a tool for storing, arranging, exploring, and publishing data. Developer Tinderbox was developed for Mac OS and Mac OS X by Mark Bernstein, Chief Engineer of Eastgate Systems. Features Its functions include storing and organizing notes, plans, and ideas, and sharing ideas through blogs. It also offers functionality similar to that of outliner and spatial hypertext/mind mapping tools, in addition to knowledge management, database and agent (persistent search) tools. Eastgate Systems is a publisher and software company headquartered in Watertown, Massachusetts, which publishes hypertext. Eastgate is a pioneer in hypertext publishing and electronic literature and one of the best known publishers of hypertext fiction. It publishes fiction, non-fiction, and poetry hypertexts by established authors with careers in print, as well as new authors. Its software tools include Storyspace, a hypertext system created by Jay David Bolter, Michael Joyce (writer), Michael Joyce, and John B. Smith in which much early hypertext fiction was written, and Tinderbox (application software), Tinderbox, a tool for managing notes and information. A concept map or conceptual diagram is a diagram that depicts suggested relationships between concepts. Concept maps may be used by instructional designers, engineers, technical writers, and others to organize and structure knowledge. Outliners
An outliner (or outline processor) is a specialized type of text editor (word processor) used to create and edit outlines, which are text files which have a tree structure, for organization. Textual information is contained in discrete sections called "nodes", which are arranged according to their topic–subtopic (parent–child) relationships, like the members of a family tree. When loaded into an outliner, an outline may be collapsed or expanded to display as few or as many levels as desired. Outliners are used for storing and retrieving textual information, with terms, phrases, sentences, or paragraphs attached to a tree. A mind map is a diagram used to visually organize information into a hierarchy, showing relationships among pieces of the whole. A personal knowledge base (PKB) is an electronic tool used to express, capture, and later retrieve the personal knowledge of an individual. It differs from a traditional database in that it contains subjective material particular to the owner, that others may not agree with nor care about.
