Timothy Long
Timothy Long (born December 19, 1967) is an American conductor and pianist with an active performing career in the United States and abroad. He is a member of the Thlopthlocco Tribal Town of the Muscogee Creek Nation of Oklahoma. He was born in Holdenville, Oklahoma, United States. Long is a member of the faculty at the Stony Brook University He is music director of Stony Brook Opera, and assistant to the music director of Opera Theatre of Saint Louis. Long is founding conductor of The Coast Orchestra, an all-Native Americans in the United States, Native American orchestra of classically trained musicians. He has conducted the ensemble in performances at the Smithsonian Institution’s National Museum of the American Indian, the American Museum of Natural History, and Rutgers University. New York City Opera
The New York City Opera (NYCO) is an American opera company located in Manhattan in New York City. The company has been active from 1943 through its 2013 bankruptcy, and again since 2016 when it was revived. The opera company, dubbed "the people's opera" by New York mayor Fiorello La Guardia, was founded in 1943. The company's stated purpose was to make opera accessible to a wide audience at a reasonable ticket price. It also sought to produce an innovative choice of repertory, and provide a home for American singers and composers. The Eastman School of Music is the music school of the University of Rochester, a private research university in Rochester, New York, United States. The Oklahoma City Philharmonic is an American symphony orchestra in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma. History As is the case with many United States, American symphony orchestras, the Oklahoma City Philharmonic owes a degree of its heritage to two predecessor professional symphonic orchestras in the city, the first having been launched in 1924 as the Oklahoma City Symphony Orchestra.
