Timothy Ika
Timothy John Ika is a Nauruan politician. Career Before entering politics, Ika worked as a boxing coach. He was the coach of Colan Caleb, who represented Nauru at the 2018 Commonwealth Games. In the 2019 parliamentary election, Ika was elected to represent the Anetan Constituency. He was elected alongside Marcus Stephen. On 27 August, during the first session of the new parliament, Ika was nominated as deputy speaker, uncontested. Ika was re-elected in the 2022 election. Nauru Phosphate Royalties Trust
The Nauru Phosphate Royalties Trust (NPRT) was a sovereign wealth fund developed by the government of the Republic of Nauru in which the government invested money from the state-owned mining company, Nauru Phosphate Corporation. This money was then re-invested in a real estate portfolio, among other things, to provide the government with a reliable national income following the depletion of minable phosphates on the island. Although at one time successful, mismanagement and corruption later essentially bankrupted the fund, thus virtually bankrupting the entire Republic. Responsibility for the Trust rests with the Ministry for the Nauru Phosphate Royalties Trust, a Cabinet position. Christ The King Church, Arubo
The Christ the King Church Also called the Catholic Church of Christ the King or simply Catholic Church of Arubo, is a religious building affiliated with the Catholic Church located in the town of Arubo in the district of Ewa north of the island of Nauru, a Country of Oceania. The church follows the Roman or Latin rite and is within the Diocese of Tarawa and Nauru (''Dioecesis Taravanus et Naurunus'') which began as an apostolic vicariate in 1897 and was elevated to its current status in November 1966 by the bull "Prophetarum voes" of the pope Paul VI. Buada District
Buada is a district in the Pacific nation of Nauru. It is the only district in Buada Constituency. It has a population of 739 (2011). Geography The only landlocked district in the Republic of Nauru, it is in the southwestern part of the island and covers the central Buada Lagoon. Buada is a fertile piece in Nauru and mostly wet and tropical due to the mass vegetation (compared to the rest of the island). It covers an area of , which in comparison with other of Nauru's districts, makes it among the largest. Buada has retained more vegetation than other districts, where, because of mining, much vegetation has been lost. The proximity of the Buada Lagoon has been relevant to the survival of vegetation. Russ Joseph Kun (born 8 September 1975) is a Nauruan politician who has been president of Nauru since being elected in the 2022 presidential election. He has served as a member of parliament for Ubenide since 2013. Biography Kun was born on 8 September 1975. He served as a scrutineer for the 2003 and 2004 general elections. He served as acting Secretary for the Ministry of Commerce Industry & Resources in 2005. He served as acting Chief Secretary in 2008 and as acting Secretary of Home Affairs in 2012. 2022 Nauruan Parliamentary Election
Parliamentary elections were held in Nauru on 24 September 2022 to elect all 19 members of parliament. All candidates were elected on a non-partisan basis. Following the election, Russ Kun, a member of parliament for Ubenide, was elected president by parliament.
