Timo Steiner (born 6 May 1976 in Tallinn) is an Estonian composer. In 1999, he graduated from Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre in composition speciality. In 1997, he founded Bowed Piano Ensemble, and was also its artistic director. Tallinn () is the most populous and capital city of Estonia. The Estonian Academy of Music and Theatre (''Eesti Muusika- ja Teatriakadeemia'') began as a mixed choir of the Estonia Society Musical Department (EMD) on the eve of World War I. The assembly of the Estonia Society created the Tallinn Higher Music School on November 17, 1918. The opening ceremony took place on September 28, 1919. In 1923 the educational institution was renamed the Tallinn Conservatoire. In 1938 the State Drama School was opened. In 1993 the school was renamed the “Estonian Academy of Music”. In 1995 the Drama Faculty was renamed the Higher Theatre School. Estonian Music Days ( et, Eesti muusika päevad) is a music festival which focuses on Estonian contemporary music. Since 1993 the festival take place annually and in spring. The festival is organized by Estonian Composers' Union in collaboration with Estonian Music Information Centre ( :et) and with other institutions. First festival took place in 1979 in Tallinn under the auspices of Estonian Composers' Union. First festival lasted 10 days and during the festival, 18 concerts, 8 theatrical performances, press conference were presented. In 1981 the festival was organized as ''Tallinn Music Days''. Since 1991, the festival bears the name of Estonian Music Days and is organised annually in springs since 1993.
