Regions Of Kazakhstan
Kazakhstan is divided into 17 regions (; ; ; ) and 4 cities. The regions are further subdivided into districts of Kazakhstan, districts (; ; ; ). The four cities, Almaty, Baikonur, Shymkent, and the capital city Astana, do not belong to their surrounding regions. Initially there were 14 regions. On 16 March 2022, President of Kazakhstan, Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev announced that three new regions would be created. Abai Region was created from East Kazakhstan Region with its capital in Semey. Ulytau Region was created from Karaganda Region with its capital in Jezkazgan. North Kazakhstan Region
North Kazakhstan Region (; ) is a region of Kazakhstan, with a population of 522,171. Its capital is Petropavl, with a population of 221,907 people. It is the only region of Kazakhstan in which ethnic Kazakhs don't make up a majority. History During the 19th century, the territory of the region was home to several Middle Zhuz tribes, including Argyns, Kerei, and Kypshak. During the late 19th and early 20th centuries, the region underwent significant resettlement as a result of the opening of the Siberian railway and the Stolypin agrarian reform. Ulken Kak
Kak (; ), also known as Ulken Kak (), is a lake in Timiryazev District, North Kazakhstan Region, Kazakhstan. The southern shore of the lake lies very close to the border with Kostanay Region. Timiryazevo town, the administrative center of the district, lies to the northeast of the lake.Google Earth Geography Kak lies in a shallow depression to the west of the Ishim, in an area of scattered lakes at the southern limits of the West Siberian Plain. The lake is roughly oval, has very little depth and its bottom is flat. The middle of the lake has a maximum depth of only about and is surrounded by a wide zone of clayey shoals. Its main food is snow and the level of the water is subject to seasonal changes, shrinking by 20 to 40% in years of drought. Kishi Kak
Kak (; ), also known as Kishi Kak (), is a salt lake in Timiryazev District, North Kazakhstan Region, Kazakhstan. The lake lies to the WSW of Sergeyev town. Timiryazevo town, the administrative center of the district, lies to the west of the lake.Google Earth Geography Kak lies in a shallow depression to the west of the Ishim, in an area of scattered lakes at the southern limits of the West Siberian Plain. The lake is slightly elongated, stretching roughly from north to south, with a small round bay in the northeast. It is quite shallow and its bottom is flat. The middle of the lake has a maximum depth of a little over . The water of the lake is salty and bitter. Although it is not much smaller, the lake is also known as "Little Kak" in order to differentiate it from Kak (Ulken Kak) lake located to the WSW in the same district.
