Pacesetter Ltd
Pacesetter Ltd was a game company based in Delavan, Wisconsin, founded in 1984. Company founders included CEO John Rickets, and Mark Acres, Andria Hayday, Gaye Goldsberry O'Keefe, Gali Sanchez, Garry Spiegle, Carl Smith, Stephen D. Sullivan and Michael Williams. Pacesetter produced both tabletop role-playing games and board games. ''Chill'' was possibly Pacesetter's most well-known product. It was subsequently republished in revised form by Mayfair Games after Pacesetter's demise. When the company 54°40' Orphyte was founded in 1991, they purchased many of the product rights to Pacesetter's games and all of its backstock. ''Chill'' is owned by Martin Caron. Timemaster
''Timemaster'' is a role-playing game centered on traveling through time and alternate dimensions, published by Pacesetter Ltd in 1984. Players take on the role of Time Corps agents who fix deviations in the timeline of the game. The primary antagonists are the Demoreans, a fictional race of shape-shifting aliens from another dimension who are determined to mold time to suit their needs. Description ''Timemaster'' is a role-playing game (RPG) featuring a time-travel system in which the player characters are agents of the Time Corps, an agency based in the year 7192 that is dedicated to preventing enemies from changing history. Gamemaster's Screen
A gamemaster's screen, also called a GM's screen, is a gaming accessory, usually made out of either cardboard or card stock, used by a gamemaster to hide all the relevant data related to a tabletop role-playing game session from the players. It also hides any dice rolls made by the gamemaster that players should not see. In addition, screens often have essential tables and information printed on the inside for the gamemaster to easily reference during play. History The first commercial gamemaster's screen was the ''Judge's Shield'', produced by Judges Guild in 1977 for use with ''Dungeons & Dragons''. This featured three pieces of 8.5" x 11" cardstock designed to be taped together to form a three-panel screen, the two outer pieces in a vertical (portrait) orientation, and the middle piece in a horizontal (landscape) orientation. ''PT-109'' was an Elco PT boat (patrol torpedo boat) last commanded by Lieutenant (junior grade) John F. Kennedy, future United States president, in the Solomon Islands campaign of the Pacific theater during World War II. Kennedy's actions in saving his surviving crew after ''PT-109'' was rammed and sunk by a Japanese destroyer earned him several commendations and made him a war hero. Career Carl Smith was an editor at TSR when Tracy Hickman got Harold Johnson, then Jeff Grubb, Smith and Larry Elmore in on the idea of Dragonlance before Margaret Weis and Douglas Niles joined them.
