ISO 3166-1 Alpha-2
ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codes are two-letter country codes defined in ISO 3166-1, part of the ISO 3166 standard published by the International Organization for Standardization (ISO), to represent countries, dependent territories, and special areas of geographical interest. They are the most widely used of the country codes published by ISO (the others being alpha-3 and numeric), and are used most prominently for the Internet's country code top-level domains (with a few exceptions). They were first included as part of the ISO 3166 standard in its first edition in 1974. Uses and applications The ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codes are used in different environments and are also part of other standards. In some cases they are not perfectly implemented. Perfect implementations The ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codes are used in the following standards: Imperfect implementations Starting in 1985, ISO 3166-1 alpha-2 codes have been used in the Domain Name System as country code top-level domains ...

Time By Country
Time is the continuous progression of existence that occurs in an apparently irreversible succession from the past, through the present, and into the future. It is a component quantity of various measurements used to sequence events, to compare the duration of events (or the intervals between them), and to quantify rates of change of quantities in material reality or in the conscious experience. Time is often referred to as a fourth dimension, along with three spatial dimensions. Time is one of the seven fundamental physical quantities in both the International System of Units (SI) and International System of Quantities. The SI base unit of time is the second, which is defined by measuring the electronic transition frequency of caesium atoms. General relativity is the primary framework for understanding how spacetime works. Through advances in both theoretical and experimental investigations of spacetime, it has been shown that time can be distorted and dilated, particular ...

List Of UTC Time Offsets
This is a list of the UTC time offsets, showing the difference in hours and minutes from Coordinated Universal Time (UTC), from the westernmost (−12:00) to the easternmost (+14:00). It includes countries and regions that observe them during standard time or year-round. The main purpose of this page is to list the current standard time offsets of different countries, territories and regions. Information on daylight saving time or historical changes in offsets can be found in the individual offset articles (e.g. UTC+01:00) or the country-specific time articles (e.g. Time in Russia). Places that observe daylight saving time (DST) during their respective summer periods are listed only once, at the offset for their winter (usually known as "standard") period; see their individual articles for more information. A source for detailed DST and historical information is the tz database. Note that there are many instances of unofficial observation of a different offset (and/or DST) than ...

List Of Time Zones By Country
This is a list representing time zones by country. Countries are ranked by total number of time zones on their territory. Time zones of a country include that of Dependent territory, dependent territories (except Territorial claims in Antarctica, Antarctic claims). France, including its overseas territories, has the most time zones with 12 (13 including Adélie Land, its claim in Antarctica and all other counties). Many countries have daylight saving time, one added hour during the local summer, but this list does not include that information. The Coordinated Universal Time, UTC offset in the list is not valid in practice during daylight saving time. Internet Assigned Numbers Authority
The Internet Assigned Numbers Authority (IANA) is a standards organization that oversees global IP address allocation, Autonomous system (Internet), autonomous system number allocation, DNS root zone, root zone management in the Domain Name System (DNS), Internet media type, media types, and other Internet Protocol–related symbols and Internet numbers. Currently it is a function of ICANN, a nonprofit private American corporation established in 1998 primarily for this purpose under a United States Department of Commerce contract. ICANN managed IANA directly from 1998 through 2016, when it was transferred to Public Technical Identifiers (PTI), an affiliate of ICANN that operates IANA today. Before it, IANA was administered principally by Jon Postel at the Information Sciences Institute (ISI) of the University of Southern California (USC) situated at Marina Del Rey (Los Angeles), under a contract USC/ISI had with the United States Department of Defense. In addition, five regional ...

Tz Database
The tz database is a collaborative compilation of information about the world's time zones and rules for observing daylight saving time, primarily intended for use with computer programs and operating systems. Paul Eggert has been its editor and maintainer since 2005, with the organizational backing of ICANN. The tz database is also known as tzdata, the zoneinfo database or the IANA time zone database (after the Internet Assigned Numbers Authority), and occasionally as the Olson database, referring to the founding contributor, Arthur David Olson. Its uniform naming convention for entries in the database, such as ''America/New_York'' and ''Europe/Paris'', was designed by Paul Eggert. The database attempts to record historical time zones and all civil changes since 1970, the Unix time epoch. It also records leap seconds. The database, as well as some reference source code, is in the public domain. New editions of the database and code are published as changes warrant, usually sev ...

Country Code
A country code is a short alphanumeric identification code for countries and dependent areas. Its primary use is in data processing and communications. Several identification systems have been developed. The term ''country code'' frequently refers to ISO 3166-1 alpha-2, as well as the telephone country code, which is embodied in the E.164 recommendation by the International Telecommunication Union (ITU). ISO 3166-1 The standard ISO 3166-1 defines short identification codes for most countries and dependent areas: *ISO 3166-1 alpha-2: two-letter code *ISO 3166-1 alpha-3: three-letter code * ISO 3166-1 numeric: three-digit code The two-letter codes are used as the basis for other codes and applications, for example, *for ISO 4217 currency codes *with deviations, for country code top-level domain names (ccTLDs) on the Internet: list of Internet TLDs. Other applications are defined in ISO 3166-1 alpha-2. ITU Telephone country codes Telephone country codes are telephone ...

Central Africa Time
Central Africa Time or CAT, is a time zone used in north central, east central and southern Africa. Central Africa Time is two hours ahead of Coordinated Universal Time ( UTC+02:00), which is the same as the adjacent South Africa Standard Time, Egypt Standard Time, Eastern European Time, Kaliningrad Time and Central European Summer Time. As this time zone is in the equatorial and tropical regions, there is little change in day length throughout the year and so daylight saving time is not observed. Central Africa Time is observed by the following countries: * * * (eastern provinces) * * * * * * * * The following countries in Africa also use an offset of UTC+02:00 all-year round: * (observes South African Standard Time) * (observes South African Standard Time) * (observes Eastern European Time) * (observes South African Standard Time) See also * Egypt Standard Time, an equivalent (except during daylight savings) time zone covering Egypt, also at UTC+02:00 * Kaliningrad T ...

Daylight Saving Time
Daylight saving time (DST), also referred to as daylight savings time, daylight time (Daylight saving time in the United States, United States and Daylight saving time in Canada, Canada), or summer time (British Summer Time, United Kingdom, Summer time in Europe, European Union, and others), is the practice of advancing clocks to make better use of the longer daylight available during summer so that darkness falls at a later clock time. The standard implementation of DST is to set clocks forward by one hour in spring (season), spring or late winter, and to set clocks back by one hour to standard time in the autumn (or ''fall'' in North American English, hence the mnemonic: "spring forward and fall back"). Overview As of 2023, around 34 percent of the world's countries use DST. Some countries observe it only in some regions. In Canada, all of Yukon Time Zone, Yukon, most of Time in Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan, and parts of Nunavut, Ontario, British Columbia and Quebec do not ...
