Timbertop is a full-time boarding, co-educational campus of Geelong Grammar School located near Mansfield, Victoria, Australia. It shares its name with Mount Timbertop, which towers directly over the school. Established in 1953, by then Headmaster James Darling, Timbertop is attended by year-nine students attending Geelong Grammar School, although there are limited spaces and not all students are able to attend. As of 2017 approximately 240 boys and girls attend Timbertop, where they are divided into single-sex 'units' of approximately 15 students. They participate in a wide variety of physical activities including running, hiking, and skiing, as well as a normal academic routine. Additionally, students at Timbertop do not have access to devices such as computers, mobile phones, or digital cameras, and external news is typically received via newspaper or radio. Geelong Grammar School
Geelong Grammar School is a private Anglican co-educational boarding and day school. The school's main campus is located in Corio on the northern outskirts of Geelong, Victoria, Australia, overlooking Corio Bay and Limeburners Bay. Delatite River
The Delatite River, an inland perennial river of the Goulburn Broken catchment, part of the Murray-Darling basin, is located in the lower South Eastern Highlands bioregion and Northern Country/North Central regions of the Australian state of Victoria. Black Saturday Bushfires
The Black Saturday bushfires were a series of bushfires that either ignited or were already burning across the Australian state of Victoria. Saturday, 7 February 2009 was one of Australia's all-time worst bushfire disasters. Corio, Victoria
Corio () is a residential and industrial area, which forms one of the largest suburbs of Geelong, Victoria in Australia. It is located approximately 9 km north of the Geelong central business district. The area was formerly known as Cowie's Creek after James Cowie, an early land owner who was active in the local and state government. History Explorers Hume and Hovell reached Corio and reported that the local Aboriginals referred to the area as 'coraiyo', meaning either 'small marsupial' or 'sandy cliffs'. Land in the area was first subdivided and sold in 1852 as "Cowie's Creek", named after an early local businessman, James Cowie. Mount Stirling is a mountain in the Victorian Alps of the Great Dividing Range, located in the Hume region of Victoria, Australia. The mountain has an elevation of above sea level. Maroondah Highway (also known as Whitehorse Road from Deepdene to Surrey Hills) is a major east–west thoroughfare in the eastern suburbs of Melbourne, and a highway connecting the north-eastern fringes of Melbourne to Mansfield, at the lower alpine region of Victoria, Australia. Charles Fisher (headmaster)
The Hon Charles Douglas Fisher, (8 October 1921 – 5 December 1978) was the English-born Australian headmaster of Scotch College, Adelaide (1962–1969), Church of England Grammar School, Brisbane (1970–1973) and Geelong Grammar School (1974–1978). Early life Fisher was born in 1921 in Repton, Derbyshire, the son of the Rev Geoffrey Fisher (1887–1972) and his wife Rosamond Chevallier (née Forman) (1890–1986). At the time of his birth Geoffrey Fisher was the headmaster of Repton School; he would subsequently be appointed Archbishop of Canterbury. An older brother, Henry, would become a High Court judge, Henry Fisher. The young Charles was educated at Marlborough College and was then commissioned into the Royal Regiment of Artillery in 1941.
