Tim McCanlies
Tim McCanlies (born 1953) is an American film director and screenwriter. He is best known for writing and directing '' Secondhand Lions'', and for writing the screenplay for ''The Iron Giant''. Biography Tim McCanlies is a fifth-generation Texan, but rarely called one place home for long. McCanlies’ father was in the Air Force and the family traveled extensively. In his early years he was interested in both acting and the technical processes that took place behind the scenes, along with the process of filming scenes. By second grade he was writing his own novels. While he was in high school he did not participate in the school's theatre program, but instead went to the local movie theatre and learned how to run the projector. McCanlies attended high school in Bryan, Texas and took some college-level courses at nearby Texas A&M University. Rotten Tomatoes is an American review aggregator, review-aggregation website for film and television. The company was launched in August 1998 by three undergraduate students at the University of California, Berkeley: Senh Duong, Patrick Y. Lee, and Stephen Wang. Although the name "Rotten Tomatoes" connects to the practice of audiences throwing rotten tomatoes in disapproval of a poor Theatre, stage performance, the direct inspiration for the name from Duong, Lee, and Wang came from an equivalent scene in the 1992 Canadian film ''Léolo''. Since January 2010, Rotten Tomatoes has been owned by Flixster, which was in turn acquired by Warner Bros. in 2011.
