Tim Johnson (linebacker)
Tim Maurice Johnson (born February 7, 1978) is a former gridiron football linebacker. He was signed by the Baltimore Ravens as an undrafted free agent in 2001. He played college football at Youngstown State. Johnson was also a member of the Chicago Bears, Oakland Raiders and Calgary Stampeders. Professional career Tim Johnson is most known for his impression of teammate Shannon Sharpe on HBO's first season of Hard Knocks in 2001, his Blocked Punt for the Oakland Raiders against Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl XXXVII which was returned for a touchdown and was awarded Special Teams Player Of The Year by teammate Jerry Rice. Linebacker
Linebacker (LB) is a playing position in gridiron football. Linebackers are members of the defensive team, and line up three to five yards behind the line of scrimmage and the defensive linemen. They are the "middle ground" of defenders, playing closer to the line of scrimmage than the defensive backs (secondary), but farther back than the defensive linemen. As such, linebackers play a hybrid role and are often the most versatile players on the defensive side of the ball; they can be asked to play roles similar to either a defensive lineman (such as stopping the runner on a running play) or a defensive back (such as dropping back into pass coverage). The 2006 Baltimore Ravens season was the franchise's 11th season in the National Football League, it would begin with the team trying to improve on their 6–10 record in 2005. The Ravens, for the first time in franchise history, started 4–0. The Ravens ended the regular season with a then-franchise record thirteen wins (that stood until a fourteen-win season in 2019). The Oakland Raiders season was the franchise's 36th season in the National Football League, the 46th overall, and the 11th back in Oakland. They were unable to improve upon their previous season's output of 5–11, instead only going 4–12. The team finished the season on a six-game losing streak.
