Tim Johnson (cyclist)
Timothy Johnson (born August 5, 1977, in Middleton, Massachusetts) is an American professional racing cyclist who has found success in cyclocross and road bicycle racing, and is one of only five male riders ( Jonathan Page was 2nd at worlds in 2007 and Matt Kelly was 1st at worlds in 1999 along with Danny Summerhill and Walker Ferguson) from the United States to stand on a UCI Cyclocross World Championships podium. Johnson has six career national championships – three Elite, two Espoir and one Junior – and a bronze medal from the UCI Cyclocross World Championships that he won in 1999 in Poprad, Slovakia. Johnson spent his 2009 road season riding for the Ouch presented by Maxxis team, of which he is the Road Captain. For 2010, Johnson rode for UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team presented by Maxxis. UnitedHealthcare Pro Cycling Team (UCI identifier: UHC) was a professional road bicycle racing team, run by Momentum Sports Group and based in the United States. The team is sponsored principally by UnitedHealth Group. It began at the end of 2009 as a reorganization of the OUCH Pro Cycling Team, with headlining cyclist Floyd Landis leaving the team. Herald Sun Tour
The Herald Sun Tour is an Australian professional bicycle race held in Melbourne and provincial Victoria, sanctioned by the Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI). The first tour was held in October 1952 as a six-day event. It is now held annually over five days in February. It is named after the ''Herald Sun'', Melbourne's only daily tabloid newspaper. It was originally known as the Sun Tour after '' The Sun News-Pictorial'', and changed its name when ''The Sun News-Pictorial'' merged with '' The Herald'' in 1990. History In 1952 the first general classification winner was Keith Rowley, a Maffra sheep farmer, in a time of 42 h 57 min 55 s. Ryan Miller (cyclist)
Ryan Dean Miller (born July 17, 1980) is an American former ice hockey goaltender who played 18 seasons in the National Hockey League (NHL) mostly for the Buffalo Sabres. Miller was drafted 138th overall by the Buffalo Sabres in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft. In 2010, he won the Vezina Trophy as the league's best goaltender. In February 2019, Miller became the winningest American-born goaltender in NHL history, surpassing John Vanbiesbrouck. He was selected to play for the United States in the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver as the team's starting goaltender. He won a silver medal with the team and was named most valuable player of the tournament. Four years later, he was selected for the 2014 Winter Olympics. Benjamin Jacques-Maynes (born September 22, 1978) is an American former road bicycle racing cyclist, who competed professionally between 2002 and 2015 for the Sierra Nevada–Cannondale, and teams. His identical twin brother, Andy Jacques-Maynes, also competed professionally and was also part of the team in 2011. Career In the 2009 Nevada City Classic in California, Jacques-Maynes took second, from a three-man break that included race-winner Lance Armstrong and Levi Leipheimer. Before an estimated 20,000 fans, the trio was able to lap the field on the very difficult short course. 2007 Tour De Georgia
The 2007 Tour de Georgia was a seven-stage professional bicycle race held from April 16 through April 22, 2007 across the state of Georgia and into Tennessee. The race was part of the 2007 USA Cycling Pro Tour. The race was the highest ranked event of the 2006–2007 UCI America Tour. The 2007 race began in Peachtree City, and crossed parts of north Georgia, including climbing stages that went to Lookout Mountain, Tennessee and Brasstown Bald, the highest point of elevation in Georgia. International Tour De 'Toona
The International Tour de Toona was a stage bicycle race held in Central Pennsylvania in July from 1987 until 2011. The event became the largest pro-am cycling event in North America and had stages spanning Blair, Cambria, Bedford, and Somerset Counties in Pennsylvania. The name was changed to The International for the 2002 edition of the race and then to the International Tour de Toona for the 2004 edition. In 2008, tour organizers scaled back the event to a one-day criterium race in downtown Altoona. On May 22, 2009, it was announced that the 2009 Tour de Toona would be canceled due to a lack of sponsorship. King Of The Mountains
The King of the Mountains (KoM) is an award given to the best climbing specialist in a men's cycling road race; in women's cycle racing, Queen of the Mountains (QoM) is used. While the title may be given to the rider who achieves the highest position over several designated climbs in a single-day road race, it is more usually applied to stage races (for example, the Grand Tours, Tour de France, Giro d'Italia, Vuelta a España, and smaller races like the Tour of California) where points are accumulated over the duration of the whole race. In the Tour de France, where it is officially known as the Mountains classification, at the top of each significant climb, points are awarded to the riders who are first over the top. The climbs are categorised from 1 (most difficult) to 4 (least difficult) based on their steepness and length. Nature Valley Grand Prix
The North Star Grand Prix is a men's and women's road bicycle racing stage race held each June in Minnesota, United States, as part of the North Star Bicycle Festival. An event was added in North Mankato in 2016. The North Star Grand Prix is one of only four races on the USA Cycling Pro Road Tour. The 2010 Grand Prix had six stages: three criteriums, two road races and a time trial. The event was known as the Nature Valley Grand Prix until 2013, but was renamed following sponsorship changes. The North Star Bicycle Festival is run by volunteers, proceeds going to Special Olympics Minnesota. The North Star Grand Prix was cancelled in 2018, which would have been its 20th year. An attempt to bring it back in 2019 failed since it had no cash sponsors and a GoFundMe campaign raised only 6% of the needed funds.
