Til Dovre Faller
''Til Dovre Faller'' () is the second release the Norwegian folk metal band Glittertind. It was released on Norway's constitution day, May 17, 2005 through Karmageddon Media, 100 years after Norway's independence from Sweden in 1905. The record was originally intended to be a full-length album. However, to reach the deadline for this symbolic release-date it came out as a seven-track mini-album. The record was dedicated to freedom, democracy and the people fighting for it throughout the years of Norwegian history. Norway got its constitution in 1814 and this album lasts for 18 minutes and 14 seconds in total - 18:14. The expression "Until the Mountains of Dovre Falls" was something the people who wrote the constitution swore to each other when signing it. Glittertind (band)
Glittertind is a Norwegian indie folk-rock band, which started up as a one-man project in 2001 featuring Torbjørn Sandvik as the driving force. In 2010, the band had a full line-up that consisted of Sandvik doing vocals and rhythm-guitar, Geirmund Simonsen playing accordion, rhythm-guitars, programming, Stefan Theofilakis on flutes, Geir Holm on drums, Olav Aasbø on lead-guitar, and Bjørn Nordstoga on bass. Biography Glittertind started out as a one-man project where Torbjørn Sandvik released ''Evige Asatro'' (2004) and ''Til Dovre Faller'' (2005) on the Dutch label Karmageddon Media. The records were inspired by the big narratives in history and the music mixed elements from punk, heavy metal and folk. In 2008, Geirmund Simonsen became a part of the project. Finntroll
Finntroll is a Finnish folk metal band from Helsinki. They combine elements of black metal and death metal with a type of Finnish folk music called humppa. Finntroll's lyrics are mostly in Swedish, the only exception being the song "Madon Laulu" on ''Visor om slutet''. Finntroll's original singer, Katla, decided to use Swedish over Finnish since he was part of a Swedish-speaking Finns, Swedish-speaking minority in Finland and the sound of the language seemed to better suit the band's "trollish" outfit. Despite several vocalist changes, this tradition has continued. To date, the band's discography includes seven full-length albums, a live album and three EPs. Their newest studio album ''Vredesvävd'' was released in 2020. Glittertind or Glittertinden is a mountain in Lom Municipality in Innlandet county, Norway. The tall mountain is the second highest mountain in Norway. It is located in the Jotunheimen mountains within Jotunheimen National Park. The mountain sits about southeast of the village of Fossbergom and about southwest of the village of Vågåmo. The mountain is surrounded by several other notable mountains including Trollsteineggje, Trollsteinrundhøe, and Svartholshøe to the north; Grotbreahesten to the northeast; Veslekjølen to the east; Austre Hestlægerhøe and Nautgardstinden to the southeast; Steinbukampen and Veopallan to the south; and Galdhøpiggen to the west. Song Of Roland
The ''Song of Roland'' () is an 11th-century based on the deeds of the Frankish military leader Roland at the Battle of Roncevaux Pass in AD 778, during the reign of the Emperor Charlemagne. It is the oldest surviving major work of French literature. It exists in various manuscript versions, which testify to its enormous and enduring popularity in Medieval and Renaissance literature from the 12th to 16th centuries. Henri Sorvali
Henri Antti Viljami "Trollhorn" Sorvali (born 19 October 1978), is a Finnish musician, known as a guitarist and keyboardist of pagan metal band Moonsorrow, and keyboardist of black metal band Finntroll. He also played keyboards on a few occasional gigs with The Rasmus in the late 1990s. Besides he was the leader of the folk/ambient project Lunar Womb, which in the end in 1999 was a solo project. He has also played in bands called Thunderdogs and Lakupaavi (a side project done as a joke by members of Moonsorrow), and played as a session musician on Ensiferum's self-titled debut album and Glittertind's mini-album Til Dovre Faller. Samuli Johannes "Skrymer" Ponsimaa is the guitarist in Folk Metal band Finntroll. Folk metal is a fusion genre of heavy metal music and traditional folk music that developed in Europe during the 1990s. ''Landkjenning'' () is the second full-length album by the Norwegian folk rock band Glittertind, released on May 27, 2009 through Napalm Records. All instruments and vocals were done by Torbjørn Sandvik and Geirmund Simonsen except the following instruments handled by session members: Harding fiddle by Erlend Viken, flutes by Stefan Theofilakis and cello by Kaja Fjellberg Pettersen. The cover-artwork was done by Kris Verwimp and the cover-layout by Julien Riesen. This album entered the domestic chart result in Norway on position #20.
