Tigray Stadium
Tigray Stadium is a multi-purpose stadium in Mekelle, Ethiopia. The stadium has a capacity of over 60,000 people. Tigray Stadium was opened to the public in 2017, before the completion of the final phase of construction. As a result, football matches and other public events have been held without adequate seating and roofing. The stadium is home to five football clubs based in the Tigray region, including Mekelle 70 Enderta FC, Shire Endaselassie F.C., Welwalo Adigrat University F.C. Mekelle
Mekelle ( ti, መቐለ, am, መቀሌ, mäqälle, mek’elē) or Mekele is a special zone and capital of the Tigray Region of Ethiopia. Mekelle was formerly the capital of Enderta awraja in Tigray. It is located around north of the Ethiopian capital Addis Ababa, with an elevation of above sea level. Administratively, Mekelle is considered a Special Zone, which is divided into seven sub-cities. It is the economic, cultural, and political hub of northern Ethiopia. Mekelle 70 Enderta FC (Amharic: መቐለ 70 እንደርታ; Tigrinya: መቐለ 70 እንደርታ) is an Ethiopian football club based in Mekelle, Ethiopia. They are a member of the Ethiopian Football Federation and currently play in the top division of Ethiopian football, the Ethiopian Premier League.
