''Tiger Trap'' is the only studio album by the American pop band Tiger Trap, released in 1993 through K Records. It was produced by Calvin Johnson. With about 10,000 copies sold, it was K Records' best-selling album until they released Beck's ''One Foot in the Grave'' the following year. Composition Along with twee pop, ''Tiger Trap'' is musically aligned with "energetic" indie pop and "romantic" punk-pop. Maria Sherman of NPR observed, "unlike the Sacramento band's riot grrrl contemporaries in the Pacific Northwest, Tiger Trap's sugar-y sweet punk was more in line with U.K. guitar pop bands like Talulah Gosh ("You're Sleeping"), critical of DIY punk's preference for phalluses and articulating that defiance with post-adolescent crush songs." Tiger Trap
Tiger Trap was an American twee-pop foursome composed of high school friends Angela Loy and Rose Melberg, with Heather Dunn and Jen Braun. The group recorded for K Records. The name "Tiger Trap" comes from the very first ''Calvin and Hobbes'' cartoon, and was used prior to the formation of the band by Rose Melberg for a solo set in 1991 at the first night of the International Pop Underground Convention, Love Rock Revolution Girl Style Now, inspiring the Beat Happening song of the same name. Formed in Sacramento, California in 1992, they managed to garner something of a cult following before disbanding only a year later. Their last concert took place at Bottom of the Hill, San Francisco, in December 1993. Robert Thomas Christgau ( ; born April 18, 1942) is an American music journalist and essayist. Sean Nelson is an American musician and journalist. He was the lead singer of the alternative rock group Harvey Danger and was a writer and editor for alternative weekly publication ''The Stranger (newspaper), The Stranger'' from 1996 to 2018. Music career Nelson joined Harvey Danger in 1993 and played with the band through to its farewell show in 2009. In addition to being the band's lead singer, he was also its songwriter and keyboardist. Swearin' is a Philadelphia-based musical group made up of singer/guitarist Allison Crutchfield, singer/guitarist Kyle Gilbride, bassist Keith Spencer and drummer Jeff Bolt. They released two albums and an EP. The band split in 2015 and Crutchfield embarked on a solo career. In November 2017, Swearin' announced that they had reunited and would go on tour in support of Superchunk in 2018. Veronica Falls were a British indie pop band that formed in London in 2009. Allo Darlin' are an indie pop band based in London consisting of singer Elizabeth Morris, guitarist Paul Rains, drummer Michael Collins and bassist Bill Botting.
