Tien Miao
Miao Tien (, 6 December 1925 – 19 February 2005) was a Chinese film actor mostly active in Hong Kong and Taiwan.Lee, Daw-ming (2012). Historical Dictionary of Taiwan Cinema'. Scarecrow Press. pp. 281–282. Biography Miao graduated at the Teachers College in Xuzhou and was working as an elementary school teacher when the civil war erupted. He joined the National Revolutionary Army and after the Communist victory moved to Taiwan. He continued to work for the army, which assigned him to be an actor in educational films. In 1956 the authorities asked him to join the government-owned Central Motion Picture Corporation (CMPC), where he started a career as a professional actor. Miao was not particularly successful at CMPC and moved to the privately owned Union Film Company. There, he achieved success with martial arts films. By the end of his career, he had starred in more than 100 such films and had become a recognizable name in the field. He died of cancer in 2005. Selected filmogra ... Tongshan District (), formerly Tongshan County () is one of six districts of Xuzhou, Jiangsu province, People's Republic of China, bordering Anhui and Shandong provinces. Snake & Crane Arts Of Shaolin
''Snake & Crane Arts of Shaolin'' () is a 1978 Hong Kong martial arts film starring Jackie Chan and directed by Chen Chi-hwa. It was released by the Lo Wei Motion Picture Company, a subsidiary of Golden Harvest. Along with Tu Wi Ho, Chen was also the film's stunt co-ordinator. Plot Hsu Ying Fung quickly makes it known (with some help) that he possesses the "Eight Steps of the Snake and Crane", a martial arts manual illustrating the ultimate fighting style. The book was written by eight Shaolin masters shortly before their disappearance, and Hsu is suspected of killing them, or at least knowing what happened. In reality, Hsu is looking for the man responsible for the masters' disappearance, whom he will know by a certain mark. ''Goodbye, Dragon Inn'' () is a 2003 Taiwanese comedy-drama slow cinema film written and directed by Tsai Ming-liang. It shows the staff and patrons of a dying movie theater, which screens the 1967 wuxia film ''Dragon Inn'' as its final performance. Title The Chinese title, "不散", is literally translated as "No leaving" or "Don't scatter." However, the title of the film references the Chinese idiom "不见不散", which is loosely translated as "I'll wait for you" or "I won't leave until I see you." ''What Time Is It There?'' is a 2001 Taiwanese film directed by Tsai Ming-liang. It stars Lee Kang-sheng, Chen Shiang-chyi, and Lu Yi-ching. Plot Hsiao-kang is a street vendor in Taipei who sells watches out of a briefcase. His father dies. Soon afterwards, Shiang-chyi goes to him to buy a dual-time watch, as she is taking a trip to Paris. She likes Hsiao-kang's personal watch, which is out of stock. At first, he refuses to sell his watch, explaining that his father just died and that it would be bad luck. She is persistent and eventually convinces him to sell the watch to her. ''The Hole'' (), also known as ''The Last Dance'', is a 1998 Taiwanese drama-musical film directed by Tsai Ming-liang. It stars Yang Kuei-mei and Lee Kang-sheng. Plot Just before the turn of the new millennium, a strange disease hits Taiwan that causes people to crawl on the floor and search for dark places. It also rains constantly. Despite evacuation orders, tenants of a rundown apartment building stay put, including Hsiao Kang ( Lee Kang-sheng). Hsiao Kang runs a food store with few customers. One day, a plumber arrives at Hsiao Kang's apartment to check the pipes. He drills a small hole into the floor which comes down through the ceiling of the woman downstairs (Yang Kuei-mei).
