Changhua County
Changhua (Wade-Giles: ''Chang¹-hua⁴'') is a Taiwanese County (Taiwan), county that is the smallest on the Geography of Taiwan, main island of Taiwan by area, and the fourth smallest in the country. With a total population of 1.24 million, Changhua County is the most populous county in the Republic of China. Its capital is Changhua, Changhua City and it is part of the Taichung–Changhua metropolitan area. History Early history There are 32 prehistoric burial sites in Changhua that date back 5000 years. The original name of the area was ''Poasoa'' (), so-named by the local Taiwanese indigenous peoples, indigenous tribes. Chen Chung-wu
Chen Chung-wu () is a Taiwanese legal scholar. Life Chen was raised in Tianwei, Changhua County. He earned a bachelor's and master's degree in law at National Taiwan University, then practiced law in Taiwan, specializing in the pursuit of counterfeiters, before completing a Doctor of Law at Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University. Chen returned to Taiwan and joined the NTU faculty in 1997, then in 2011 was appointed to a distinguished professorship. In May 2023, President Tsai Ing-wen nominated Chen to the Constitutional Court. Chiu Chuang-huan (; 25 July 1925 – 2 July 2020) was a Taiwanese politician. He was the Vice Premier from 1981 to 1984. Lo Fu-chu
Lo Fu-chu (; born 2 July 1943) is a former Taiwanese legislator and a self-described leader of the "Celestial Alliance" organized crime group. In the late 1990s and early 2000s he was known as the most notorious person involved with organized crime then holding public office, and was reputed to be one of the wealthiest men in Taiwan. While in office he was described by other legislators as "verbally and physically violent", and he was arrested the same day that his second legislative term ended, in 2002. After leaving office Lo fought and appealed many charges over the next decade, but was eventually convicted in 2012 for money laundering and insider trading and sentenced to four years in prison. Following his conviction Lo was released on bail and subsequently disappeared. Officials at the Taiwanese Criminal Investigation Bureau believe that he has probably fled to China, where he has investments in the hotel and entertainment industries. The Legislative Yuan () is the unicameral legislature of the Republic of China (Taiwan) located in Taipei. The Legislative Yuan is composed of 113 members, who are directly elected for four-year terms by people of the Taiwan Area through a parallel voting system.
