Tia And Piujuq
''Tia and Piujuq'' () is a Canadian family drama film, directed by Lucy Tulugarjuk and released in 2018. The film stars Tia Bshara as Tia, a young girl who has moved with her family to Montreal as refugees from the Syrian civil war; struggling to adapt or fit in within her new environment, one day she discovers a magic portal which transports her to an Inuit community in the Canadian Arctic, where she meets and befriends Piujuq (Nuvvija Tulugarjuk), an Inuk girl her own age who is also lonely and unhappy as she is spending the summer at an isolated hunting camp with her grandmother (Madeline Ivalu), with their interactions proving healing and transformative for both girls.Priscilla Naungagiaq Hensley, "Review: Tia and Piujuq". Lucy Tulugarjuk
Lucy Tulugarjuk (born February 28, 1975) is an Inuk-Canadian actress, throat singer, and director. She is executive director for the Nunavut Independent Television Network. She is best known to international audiences for appearing in '' Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning'' (2025). Early life Tulugarjuk is from Igloolik, Nunavut. Career Tulugarjuk is known for starring in the 2001 film '' Atanarjuat: The Fast Runner'', for which she won the award for Best Actress at the American Indian Film Festival. In 2015, she acted in the film ''Maliglutit''. In 2017 she directed her first feature-length film ''Tia and Piujuq'' (). The film featured Marie-Hélène Cousineau as producer, and Tulugarjuk's daughter in the lead role as Piujuq.
