Ti-Tree Airfield
__NOTOC__ Ti-Tree Airfield (ICAO:YTIT), also known as Ti Tree aeroplane landing area (ALA) is a landing strip in the Northern Territory of Australia located in the town of Ti-Tree. Description The airfield is located on the east side of the town and the Stuart Highway. Its single runway has a length of , a width of , a sealed surface and an approximate north-south orientation. The airfield is owned by the Northern Territory Government and operated by the local government authority, the Central Desert Region. Future developments In 2015, the draft EIS for a proposed mine at Mount Peake which is located about north-west of Ti-Tree included a proposal to upgrade the airfield to allow its use by aircraft such as the Fokker F100 or BAE146 to fly-in fly-out personnel involved in the mine's establishment and its subsequent operation. The Central Desert Region is a local government area of the Northern Territory, Australia, administered by the Central Desert Regional Council (formerly Central Desert Shire). Ti-Tree (formerly Tea Tree and Ti Tree) is a town and locality in the Northern Territory of Australia located on the Stuart Highway about south of the territory capital of Darwin and about 193 km north of the municipal seat in Alice Springs. At the , Ti-Tree had a population of 70. It is the closest town to Alice Springs. The area around Ti-Tree has a population of 995 people of whom 191 are non-Aboriginal. Stuart Highway is a major Australian highway. It runs from Darwin, in the Northern Territory, via Tennant Creek and Alice Springs, to Port Augusta in South Australia; a distance of . Fokker F100
The Fokker 100 is a regional jet produced by Fokker in the Netherlands. The Fokker 100 is based on the Fokker F28 with a fuselage stretched by to seat up to 109 passengers, up from 85. It is powered by two newer Rolls-Royce Tay turbofans, and it has an updated glass cockpit and a wider wing and tail for increased maximum weights. The program was announced in 1983 and it made its maiden flight on 30 November 1986. The variant was approved on 20 November 1987, and first deliveries to Swissair started in February 1988. American Airlines ordered 75, TAM Transportes Aéreos Regionais asked for 50, and USAir got 40. It is the basis of the shorter Fokker 70, which made its first flight in April 1993. The British Aerospace 146 (also BAe 146) is a short-haul and regional airliner that was manufactured in the United Kingdom by British Aerospace, later part of BAE Systems. Production ran from 1983 until 2001. Manufacture by Avro International Aerospace of an improved version known as the Avro RJ began in 1992. Fly-in fly-out is a method of employing people in remote areas by flying them temporarily to the work site instead of relocating employees and their families permanently. It is often abbreviated to FIFO when referring to employment status. This is common in large mining regions in Australia and Canada. Similar to the fly-in fly-out roster is the DIDO (drive-in drive-out) roster, which has essentially the same benefits and drawbacks. Tennant Creek ( wrm, Jurnkkurakurr) is town located in the Northern Territory of Australia.
