''Thyagi'' () is a 1982 Indian Tamil-language action film, directed by C. V. Rajendran and produced by G. Hanumantharao. The film stars Sivaji Ganesan, Sujatha, Major Sundarrajan and V. S. Raghavan. It is a remake of the 1981 Kannada film '' Antha''. The film was released on 3 September 1982. ''Antha'' () is a 1981 Indian Kannada-language action thriller film directed by Rajendra Singh Babu, based on H. K. Ananth Rao's serialised story of the same name published for the weekly magazine ''Sudha''. The film stars Ambareesh, while Lakshmi, Shakti Prasad, Lakshman, Vajramuni, Tiger Prabhakar, Sundar Krishna Urs appear in supporting roles. The plot revolves around an honest police officer (Ambareesh) who goes on to impersonate his lookalike, a dreaded criminal, to expose the nexus between the underworld and the establishment. The film was released after a lengthy battle of the makers with the Central Board of Film Certification over a few scenes in the film that allegedly glorified violence. It culminated with the director and producer meeting then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, a parliamentary debate over the film's release and a subsequent judicial verdict in their favour. Padmalaya Studios is an Indian film production and distribution company established by actor Krishna and his brothers. Based in Hyderabad it mainly produces and distributes Telugu and Hindi films. The studio currently operates through its successors Indira Productions and G. Mahesh Babu Entertainment and Krishna Productions Pvt. Ltd. Padmalaya Movies was established as a film production company by Krishna and his brothers with the film ''Agni Pariksha'' (1970). Later, Krishna was given 9.5 acres of land in 1982, by the then state government of Andhra Pradesh to foster film development in Hyderabad. The film studio complex, Padmalaya Studios, was opened in November 1984. The first film shot in the studio was '' Simhasanam'' (1986). Sujatha (actress)
Sujatha (10 December 1952 – 6 April 2011) was an Indian actress who performed and staggered in a number of unique and variety of characters in Tamil, Malayalam and Telugu films- in addition to few in Kannada and Hindi languages as well. The actress was best known for restraint and subtlety in portrayal of varied emotions. After starring in numerous Malayalam films in her mother-tongue, Sujatha later got introduced to the Tamil film industry by veteran director K. Balachander and producer P.R. Govindarajan as a protagonist in her first Tamil film, '' Aval Oru Thodar Kathai'' (1974). It was a critically acclaimed film and launched the actress's first commecrical breakthrough in her acting career. Whereas, her first Telugu picture happened to be a Telugu/Tamil bilingual titled as '' Guppedu Manasu'' (1979) in Telugu and was simultaneously shot as Nool Veli in Tamil of the same year. Sripriya is an Indian actress, film director and politician from Tamil Nadu. She has acted in over 300 films in Tamil, Telugu, Kannada, Malayalam and Hindi languages. She has also directed films in Tamil, Kannada and Telugu languages, including the 2014 film '' Drushyam''. She is a Core Committee Member of Makkal Needhi Maiam, a political party founded by Kamal Haasan. Career Acting She first faced the camera for ''Murugan Kaattiya Vazhi'', directed by P. Madhavan in 1974. Following that, she acted with Rajinikanth, Kamal Haasan, Sivaji Ganesan, and Jaishankar among others. Sripriya had a string of successful movies in the late 70s and early 80s. Geetha Kadambee (born 14 July 1962) is an Indian actress who appears in Malayalam, Tamil, Kannada, Telugu and Hindi films. She debuted in the Tamil film ''Bairavi'' (as Rajinikanth's sister). Since then she has acted in over 200 films in all major South Indian languages, and in a few Hindi films. She also appears in South Indian television serials. Geetha has won two Filmfare Awards South and a Karnataka State Film Awards and Kerala State Film Awards each.
