Thursday At The Square
''Thursday at the Square'' was a free weekly concert series held annually from May through August at Lafayette Square in Buffalo, New York. History The first year of the series was held in downtown Buffalo at the corner of Main and Chippewa. Beginning in 1986 the series was held in Buffalo's Lafayette Square. It was originally called ''Thursday in the Park'' until a name change in 1994. It grew from a casual showcase of local talent to a professional display of both local and national music acts. Buffalo Place sponsored the concert series that ran every summer from May until September. Every Thursday Lafayette Square was transformed, bringing citizens from nearby suburbs into the city. Molly Hatchet is an American rock band formed by guitarist Dave Hlubek in Jacksonville, Florida in 1971. They experienced popularity and commercial success during the late 1970s and early to mid-1980s amongst southern rock and hard rock communities and listeners. The band released six studio albums on Epic Records between 1978 and 1984, including the platinum-selling hit records '' Molly Hatchet'' (1978), '' Flirtin' with Disaster'' (1979) and '' Beatin' the Odds'' (1980). Squeeze are an English Rock music, rock band that came to prominence in the United Kingdom during the New wave music, new wave period of the late 1970s, and continued recording in the 1980s, 1990s and 2010s. Mary Black (born 23 May 1955) is an Irish folk singer. She is well known as an interpreter of both traditional folk and modern material which has made her a major recording artist in her native Ireland. Background Mary Black was born into a musical family on Charlemont Street in Dublin, Ireland, and had four siblings. She was educated at St Louis High School, Rathmines. Her father was a fiddler, who came from Rathlin Island off the coast of Northern Ireland, and her mother was a singer.
