''Thundenek'' ( si, තුන්දෙනෙක්), marketed theatrically as Her. Him. The Other, is an upcoming Sri Lankan Sinhala tri-segmented anthology film. The film is directed by three award-winning Sri Lankan filmmakers: Asoka Handagama, Vimukthi Jayasundara and Prasanna Vithanage. Produced by The Office for National Unity and Reconciliation (a Department of the Government of Sri Lanka), the film is scored by K. Krishna Kumar and Kapila Poogalaarachchi. The film premiered on 19 February at the Tharanganee Film Hall to mostly positive reviews from critics. The film revolves around three separate stories linked to postwar experiences and ethnic conflict in Sri Lankan society. The film is also titled ''Her. Him. The Other'' due to this narrative structure. Kala Keerthi Vimukthi Jayasundara ( si, විමුක්ති ජයසුන්දර) is a Sri Lankan filmmaker, critic and a visual artist. Jayasundara is the first Sri Lankan to win the Caméra d'Or, in 2005. Life and career Vimukthi Jayasundara was born in Ratnapura, Sri Lanka but comes from Galle. He attended Mahinda College, and the Film and Television Institute of India in Pune. Prasanna Vithanage
Udaya Prasanna Vithanage ( si, ප්රසන්න විතානගේ) (born 14 March 1962) is a Sri Lankan filmmaker. He is considered one of the pioneers of the third generation of the Sri Lankan cinema. He has directed eight feature films including Death on a Full Moon Day (1997), August Sun (2003), Flowers of the Sky (2008) & With You, Without You (2012) and won many prestigious national and international awards and have also been commercially successful in Sri Lanka. In his early theatre work, he translated and produced plays by international writers, adapted works of world literature to film. He has battled against the censorship in Sri Lanka and worked as an educator of cinema who has conducted many Master classes in the subcontinent for young filmmakers and enthusiasts. Asoka Handagama
Asoka Handagama (born December 1962) is a Sri Lankan filmmaker. He obtained his primary and secondary schooling in a provincial school and went on to study Mathematics at the University of Kelaniya where he was awarded a first class honours degree. He obtained his MSc in Development Economics at Warwick University in 1995. He is also an Assistant Governor of the Sri Lankan Central Bank. Theatre Asoka Handagama's entry to filmmaking was via the theatre and television. His maiden theatrical effort, '' Bhoomika (film)'', was to address the seedling emerging ethnic crisis in the Island. K (composer)
Krishna Kumar, better known by his stage name K, is an Indian music composer. Background K did his schooling at Padma Seshadri Bala Bhavan, Chennai, where he took lessons in playing the keyboard. He quickly progressed and finished Grade 8 certificate exams in music with the Trinity College of Music, London. K graduated in Genetic Engineering (BTech) from SRM University, Chennai. His musical talent found an outlet when he joined his first rock band aged 12, and then played with a successful funk/rock and roll band ‘''Panatella''’ for several years after that. He moved to creating jingles for advertisements and corporate films, singing several songs for the same. Reincarnation
Reincarnation, also known as rebirth or transmigration, is the philosophical or religious concept that the non-physical essence of a living being begins a new life in a different physical form or body after biological death. Resurrection is a similar process hypothesized by some religions, in which a soul comes back to life in the same body.
