Three Brothers (1981 Film)
''Three Brothers'' () is a 1981 Italian film based on a work by Russian author Andrei Platonov. It was directed by Francesco Rosi and stars Philippe Noiret, Vittorio Mezzogiorno, Michele Placido and Charles Vanel. The film won the Boston Society of Film Critics award for Best Foreign Film, and the Nastro d'Argento for Best Director and Actor. It received a nomination for an Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film. It was screened out of competition at the 1981 Cannes Film Festival. Antonio "Tonino" Guerra (16 March 1920 – 21 March 2012) was an Italian poet, writer and screenwriter who collaborated with some of the most prominent film directors, such as Andrei Tarkovsky, Michelangelo Antonioni, Theo Angelopoulos, and Federico Fellini. Luigi Infantino (; 24 April 1921 – 22 June 1991) was an Italian operatic tenor, particularly associated with the lyric Italian and French repertories. Luigi Infantino was born in Racalmuto, and studied at the Parma Conservatory with Italo Brancucci. He made his debut in 1943, at the Teatro Regio in Parma, as Rodolfo in ''La bohème'', which was also his debut role at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, in 1945. With that company, he appeared in London as the Duke in ''Rigoletto'', and Rodolfo. Tino Schirinzi (12 August 1934 – 18 August 1993), was an Italian actor and stage director. Born in Taranto, Schirinzi graduated in medicine, then he devoted himself to the theatre, often working at the Teatro Stabile in Turin and at the Piccolo Teatro in Milan. He created a successful artistic partnership with Piera Degli Esposti, and took part in Italian theatrical debut of Patrice Chéreau. After 1968, he was author of irreverent reinterpretations of works by Gabriele d'Annunzio, Carlo Goldoni and of the Elizabethan theatre which resulted in a resounding firing from the Vittoriale theatre.
