Thowra (Vidhan Sabha Constituency)
Thowra is one of the 126 assembly constituencies of Assam Legislative Assembly. Thowra forms part of the Jorhat Lok Sabha constituency. The main area is located around a tea garden known as Thowra Tea Estate. As such, though it is one of the many tea gardens in Assam, it boasts of having a golf field. However recently, the field lacks maintenance and is a common grazing ground. Sushanta Borgohain
Sushanta Borgohain (27 April 1974) is an Indian politician from Assam. He is also a bike rider. Early life and education Borgohain was born in Sivasagar. He did his schooling at VKV, Digboi and then passed High School from Tribeni Academy, Tamil Nadu. Career Borgohain was elected to the Assam Legislative Assembly from Thowra in Shivsagar district in the 2021 Assam Legislative Assembly election as a member of the Indian National Congress. He previously served from 2011 to 2016. In June 2021, he resigned from the Indian National Congress due to internal differences in the party. Asom Gana Parishad
Asom Gana Parishad (translation: ''Assam People's Council'', AGP) is a political party in the state of Assam, India. The AGP was formed following the historic Assam Accord of 1985 and formally launched at the Golaghat Convention held from 13 to 14 October 1985 in Golaghat, which also allowed Prafulla Kumar Mahanta who was the youngest chief minister of the state to be elected. The AGP has formed government twice once in 1985 then again in 1996. The popularity of AGP surged in the late 1980s but declined in the 2000s. After a 20-year gap, AGP, in alliance with National Democratic Alliance (India), NDA, won a Lok Sabha seat in 2024. 2016 Assam Legislative Assembly Election
The Assam Legislative Assembly Election of 2016 was held in two phases, on 4 and 11 April 2016, to elect members of the 126 constituencies in Assam, a state in North-eastern India. The overall voter turnout was 84.72%, which set a new record for Assam. The turnout was an increase from the 2011 Assam Legislative Assembly election, 2011 Assembly election figure of 75%. The counting of votes and results declaration was completed on 19 May 2016. 2021 Assam Legislative Assembly Election
The 2021 Assam Legislative Assembly election was the 15th quinquennial State legislative assemblies of India, legislative assembly election held in the Indian state of Assam from March 27 to April 6 in three phases, to elect 126 Member of the Legislative Assembly (India), MLAs to the 15th Assam Legislative Assembly.
