Thousand Lights (constituency)
Thousand Lights is a constituency of the legislative assembly of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Its State Assembly Constituency number is 20. It forms a part of Chennai Central Lok Sabha constituency for national elections to the Parliament of India. It is one of the 234 State Legislative Assembly Constituencies in Tamil Nadu. Ezhilan Naganathan
Ezhilan Naganathan (born 27 June 1979) is an Indian medical practitioner, social activist and politician from the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK). Since May 2021, he has been serving as a member of the Tamil Nadu Legislative Assembly from Thousand Lights constituency. Early life Ezhilan was born on 27 June 1979 in Madras (now Chennai), the capital of Tamil Nadu. Both his mother, Santhi, and father, M. Naganathan, were Professors with strong Dravidian ideals. Naganathan was a close associate of Ex-Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M Karunanidhi for over 40 years and served as the Vice-Chairman of Tamil Nadu State Planning Commission from 2006-2011. Ezhilan graduated from Don Bosco Matriculation Higher Secondary School, Chennai. He was a serious student and talented young dancer. 2006 Tamil Nadu State Assembly Election
The thirteenth legislative assembly election, of Tamil Nadu was held on 8 May 2006. It was held for all 234 constituencies to elect the government in the state for the following five years. The votes were counted three days later on 11 May 2006 and all the results were out by the end of the day. The Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam-led (DMK) front won the elections, with the DMK emerging as the single-largest party with 96 seats, and its leader, M Karunanidhi was sworn in as Chief Minister for a List of Chief Ministers of Tamil Nadu, fifth and final term. This election marked the first time the state saw a hung assembly with no party gaining a majority of its own. As a result, DMK formed a minority government with its allies, which is the first in the state since the 1952 Madras State legislative assembly election, 1952 election.
