Those Who Dance (1924 Film)
''Those Who Dance'' is a 1924 American silent drama film produced by Thomas H. Ince and directed by Lambert Hillyer. Released by Associated First National, the film stars Blanche Sweet, Bessie Love, and Warner Baxter. It is based on a story by George Kibbe Turner. Warner Bros. later inherited First National in a merger and remade the film in 1930 as ''Those Who Dance'', which exists at the Library of Congress. It is not known whether the 1924 film currently survives, and it may be a lost film. Plot When a young lawyer (Baxter)'s sister is killed in a bootleg liquor-related accident, he seeks justice by joining the prohibition force. A young man (Agnew) is wrongfully suspected of a crime, so his sister (Sweet) seeks evidence to set him free. The lawyer and young woman pose as a couple to infiltrate the underworld. Lambert Hillyer
Lambert Harwood Hillyer (July 8, 1893 – July 5, 1969) was an American film director and screenwriter. Biography Lambert Harwood Hillyer was born July 8, 1893, in Tyner, Indiana. His mother was character actress Lydia Knott. A graduate of Drake College, he worked as a newspaper reporter and an actor in vaudeville and stock theater. During World War I he began working in motion pictures and became a prolific director and screenwriter, working on many silent-era Westerns by William S. Hart, Buck Jones, Tom Mix and others. Often associated with producer Thomas H. Ince, Hillyer expanded into romantic melodramas and crime films in the 1920s. In 1936 he directed two chillers for Universal, the science-fiction film '' The Invisible Ray'' and the cult horror film ''Dracula's Daughter''. Frank Campeau (December 14, 1864 – November 5, 1943) was an American actor. He appeared in more than 90 films between 1911 and 1940 and made many appearances in films starring Douglas Fairbanks. Jack Perrin (born Lyman Wakefield Perrin; July 25, 1896 – December 17, 1967) was an American actor specializing in Westerns. Early life Perrin was born in Three Rivers, Michigan. His father worked in real estate and relocated the family to Los Angeles, California shortly after the start of the 20th century. Career Perrin served in the United States Navy during World War I. Following the war, he returned to Los Angeles and started acting for Universal Studios. His first on-screen appearance was in the 1917 film '' Luke's Lost Liberty'' alongside Harold Lloyd. During the 1920s, Perrin made a name for himself, starring in a number of cliffhanger, melodrama, and serial films. Perrin found a niche in B-movie Westerns of the 1930s. Charles Delaney (August 9, 1892 – August 31, 1959) was an American actor. Biography Delaney was born in New York City in 1892. He was originally a motor mechanic and having learned to fly during World War I, he started doing flying vaudeville acts on his return to civilian life before beginning to appear in films. He appeared in more than 90 films between 1913 and 1959. Delaney died in Hollywood in 1959. His final screen appearance was a supporting role in the independently produced low-budget feature '' The Beatniks'' which was released posthumously in 1960.
