"Those Old Scientists" is the seventh episode of the second season of the television series '' Star Trek: Strange New Worlds'' and was released on Paramount+ on July 22, 2023. In this crossover episode, characters from the animated series ''Star Trek: Lower Decks'' are sent back in time to the 23rd-century setting of ''Strange New Worlds''. Captain Christopher Pike and the crew of the have to work with Ensigns Mariner and Boimler to return them to their proper time. "Those Old Scientists" was written by a combination of ''Lower Decks'' and ''Strange New Worlds'' writers and directed by longtime ''Star Trek'' actor and director Jonathan Frakes. Akiva Goldsman
Akiva J. Goldsman (born July 7, 1962) is an American filmmaker. He is known for making motion pictures and adaptations of popular novels. Goldsman's filmography as a screenwriter includes '' The Client''; ''Batman Forever'' and its sequel '' Batman & Robin''; '' I, Robot''; '' I Am Legend''; ''Cinderella Man,'' and numerous rewrites that are both credited and uncredited. Mike McMahan
Mike McMahan is an American comedy writer and television producer. He is the creator of the animated comedies '' Solar Opposites'' (with Justin Roiland) and '' Star Trek: Lower Decks''. Career McMahan, a native of Chicago, first worked in production as an assistant at The Second City. From there, he was hired by Scott Rudin Productions as a production assistant, and worked on ''Drawn Together'' and '' South Park''. McMahan served as a writer and producer on ''Rick and Morty''.
