Thorgy Thor is the stage name of Shane Thor Galligan, an American drag queen and musician who came to international attention on the eighth season of ''RuPaul's Drag Race'' and on the third season of ''All Stars''. Early life Galligan studied music at the University of Hartford Hartt School in Connecticut before graduating from the State University of New York, Purchase with a Bachelor of Music in both viola and violin performance in 2006. He also knows how to play the cello. His mother, Elaine Frantzen Galligan (born March 22, 1953), died from cancer on March 20, 2005. Career Drag Thorgy Thor moved to Brooklyn in 2006 and considers herself a Brooklyn queen. She lived in Greenpoint, Brooklyn as of 2021. She has said Brooklyn's drag style has contributed to her aesthetic. Galligan's first drag performance was as Frank N. Furter from ''The Rocky Horror Show''. RuPaul's DragCon LA
RuPaul's DragCon LA is an annual Trade fair, expo of Drag (clothing), drag culture held in Los Angeles billed as a "convention that celebrates 'the art of drag, queer culture and self-expression for all'", which debuted in 2015. Its sister event is RuPaul's DragCon NYC started in 2017, and is considered the "world's largest celebration of drag culture." The third season of ''RuPaul's Drag Race'' began airing on January 24, 2011, and ended its run on May 2 of the same year. Thirteen drag queens competed for the title of "America's Next Drag Superstar", a headlining spot on the Absolut Tour, a lifetime supply of Kryolan makeup, and a cash prize of $75,000. The second season of '' RuPaul's Drag Race'' premiered on February 1, 2010, and aired its final episode on April 26 of the same year. The first season of ''RuPaul's Drag Race'' premiered in the United States on February 2, 2009, on Logo, and ended on March 23 of the same year.
