Paul And Erlend Thorfinnsson
Paul Thorfinnsson (died 1098) and Erlend Thorfinnsson (died 1098) were brothers who ruled together as Earl of Orkney, Earls of Orkney. Paul and Erlend were the sons of Thorfinn Sigurdsson and Ingibiorg Finnsdottir. Through Ingibiorg's father Finn Arnesson and his wife, the family was related to the Norwegian Kings Olaf II of Norway, Olav II and Harald II of Norway, Harald II. They are both described as "tall, handsome men, shrewd and gentle, taking rather more after their mother's side of the family. Their lives and times are recounted in the ''Orkneyinga Saga'', which was first written down in the early 13th century by an unknown Icelandic author. Appointment The saga provides few accurate dates and it is not certain when Earl Thorfinn died save that it was in the later days of Harald Hardrada. Bragi Thorfinnsson (born 10 April 1981) is an Icelandic chess grandmaster. Chess career Born in 1981, Bragi earned his international master title in 2003. He achieved his first grandmaster norm at the Four Nations Chess League 2012–13, scoring 6½/9 for the Jutes of Kent. He also reached an Elo rating of 2500 after six rounds of this event. He earned the second norm at the 2016–17 Icelandic Team Chess Championship, scoring 7/9, and his final norm at the Kragerø Resort Chess – A tournament in February 2018, scoring 7/9.
