Thoothukkudi City Municipal Corporation
The Thoothukkudi City Municipal Corporation ( TCMC; , IAST: ) is the governing civic body of Thoothukkudi, the sea gate of the southern Indian state of Tamil Nadu. It was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu under the Thoothukkudi City Municipal Corporation Act, 2008 (Tamil Nadu Act 27 of 2008). The corporation is responsible for the civic infrastructure and administration of the city and some suburbs. The corporation consists of a legislative and an executive body. National Highway 44 (NH 44) is a major north–south National Highway in India and is the longest in the country. National Highways Of India
The national highways in India are a network of limited access roads owned by the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. National highways have flyover access or some controlled-access, where entrance and exit is through the side of the flyover. At each highway intersection, flyovers are provided to bypass the traffic on the city, town, or village. These highways are designed for speeds of 100 km/h. Some national highways have interchanges in between, but do not have total controlled-access throughout the highways. Tiruchendur (Tamil language, Tamil: ''Tiruccentūr'' [ˈt̪iɾɯtːʃen̪d̪uːr], also ''jayantipuram'') is a municipality in Thoothukudi district, Tamil Nadu, India. Municipal Corporations are the local governing bodies of the urban areas in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. A municipal corporation carries out its functions through well organized divisions or departments. The 74th Amendment to the Constitution of India defined the formations of urban local governments and their activities. The Greater Chennai Corporation, which was established on 29 September 1688 as the Corporation of Madras, is the oldest municipal corporation in India and the second oldest in the world after London. It is the largest city corporation of Tamil Nadu, both in area and population. Madurai Municipal Corporation was established in 1971 and Coimbatore Municipal Corporation in 1981.
