Thompsons Solicitors, formerly Robin Thompson & Partners, is a large firm of solicitors founded in 1921 with longstanding links to the trade union movement. It is 45th on the list of largest United Kingdom-based law firms. It specialises in personal injury claims and employment law, and only acts for claimants. Background The Black Solicitors Network's Diversity League Table in 2009 found the firm had the largest proportion of women and lawyers from an ethnic minority background of the top 100 firms in the UK. It moved its Birmingham offices to Embassy House in Church Street in April 2017. Mick Antoniw
Mick Antoniw (; born 1 September 1954) is a Welsh Labour and Co-operative politician, who was Counsel General for Wales from 2021 to 2024, having previously served in the position from 2016 to 2017. He previously served as Minister for the Constitution from 2021 to 2024. He has been the Member of the Senedd (MS) for Pontypridd since 2011. Early life Born in Reading, England in 1954, Antoniw comes from a Ukrainian family, with a Danish mother and a Ukrainian father who sought refugee status in the UK following World War II. Joanna Meriel Stevens (born 6 September 1966) is a Welsh politician serving as Secretary of State for Wales since 2024. A member of the Labour Party, she has been a Member of Parliament (MP) since 2015, representing Cardiff East since 2024, having previously represented Cardiff Central. Victoria Philips is a solicitor in the United Kingdom. She is head of the Employment Rights Unit at Thompsons Solicitors, having qualified as a solicitor in August 1996. Vaughan Gething
Humphrey Vaughan ap David Gething (born 15 March 1974) is a Welsh Labour Co-op politician who served as First Minister of Wales from March to August 2024, and served as leader of Welsh Labour from March to July 2024, making him the first black leader of any European country. He has been the Member of the Senedd (MS) for Cardiff South and Penarth since 2011. Gething was born in Zambia to a Welsh father and Zambian mother. He moved to Britain as a child and studied law at Aberystwyth University and Cardiff Law School, at the University of Cardiff. Robert Howard Marris (born 8 April 1955) is a British Labour Party politician, who served as the Member of Parliament (MP) for Wolverhampton South West. He first held the seat from 2001 until his defeat in 2010. He regained at the seat at the 2015 general election, but stepped down at the 2017 general election. John Stephen Monks, Baron Monks (born 5 August 1945) is a Labour Co-operative member of the House of Lords and former trade unionist leader, who served as the General Secretary of the Trades Union Congress (TUC) in the UK from 1993 until 2003. Heart of England NHS Foundation Trust (HEFT) was one of the largest organisations running NHS hospitals in England.
