Thomas Rolph (other)
Thomas Rolph (January 17, 1885 – May 10, 1956) was a United States representative from California. He was born in San Francisco, California. His older brother, James Rolph Jr., was elected Mayor of San Francisco in 1911 and served until he was elected Governor of California in 1930. Biography Rolph attended public schools and graduated from Humboldt Evening High School. In 1912, he founded a building materials sales agency, which he headed until his death. Rolph was elected as a Republican to the Seventy-seventh and Seventy-eighth Congresses (January 3, 1941 - January 3, 1945). He was an unsuccessful candidate for reelection in 1944 to the Seventy-ninth Congress. He returned to his building material sales agency and died in San Francisco in 1956. Mission High School is a public high school in the San Francisco Unified School District (SFUSD) San Francisco, California. Serving grades 9-12, Mission is the oldest high school on its original site in San Francisco; it has been on 18th Street, between Dolores and Church, since 1896. The original campus burned in 1922, and the replacement was completed in two stages, the west wing in 1925 and the main building was dedicated by San Francisco mayor James Rolph on June 12, 1927. Originally, girls and boys had separate courtyards. The boys' is overlooked by the "baby tower," about high, and the girls' (right) topped by a -high baroque dome. James Rolph
James "Sunny Jim" Rolph Jr. (August 23, 1869 – June 2, 1934) was an American politician. A member of the Republican Party, he was elected to a single term as the 27th governor of California from January 6, 1931, until his death on June 2, 1934, at the height of the Great Depression. Previously, Rolph had been the 30th mayor of San Francisco from January 8, 1912, until his resignation to become governor. Rolph remains the longest-serving mayor in San Francisco history. California's 4th congressional district is a U.S. congressional district in California. Tom McClintock, a Republican, has represented the district since January 2009. Currently, the 4th district encompasses the Sierras from Truckee to the Sequoia National Forest, as well as a largely suburban area on the edge of the Sacramento Valley in southwestern Placer County. It consists of Alpine, Amador, Calaveras, El Dorado, Mariposa, and Tuolumne counties plus most of Placer County and portions of Fresno, Madera, and Nevada counties.
