Thomas Patterson (Pennsylvania Politician)
Thomas Patterson (October 1, 1764 – November 16, 1841) was a member of the U.S. House of Representatives from Pennsylvania. Thomas Patterson (half brother of John Patterson) was born in Little Britain Township, Pennsylvania. He moved with his parents to Pattersons Mills, Pennsylvania, in 1778. He engaged in agricultural pursuits and operated a flour mill. He served as a major general of militia in the War of 1812. Patterson was elected as a Republican to the Fifteenth Congress and the two succeeding Congresses and reelected as a Jackson Republican to the Eighteenth Congress. Thomas Patterson (Arizona Politician)
Thomas C. Patterson (born August 18, 1945) is a former member of the Arizona State Senate and was chairman of the Goldwater Institute from 2000 to July 2015. Patterson served five terms in the Senate from January 1989 through January 1999, representing district 26. He served as minority leader from 1991 to 1992 and majority leader from 1993 to 1996. He did not run for re-election in 2000. Patterson was the author of legislation creating Arizona's charter school system and welfare reform program. Until 1998, he was a practicing physician and president of Emergency Physicians, Inc.. Tom Patterson (theatre Producer)
Harry Thomas Patterson, (June 11, 1920 – February 23, 2005) was a Stratford, Ontario born journalist who went on to found the Stratford Festival of Canada, then called the Stratford Shakespearean Festival, the largest theatre festival in Canada. Patterson was a veteran of World War II and a journalist writing for Maclean's magazine in the early 1950s. From the time that he was a teenager, he had thought that his home town of Stratford, Ontario should be home to performances of Shakespeare's plays. The town was suffering from industrial decline due to the declining fortunes of the rail industry. Patterson, with no experience of the theatre, proposed the idea of a theatre festival. In 1952, he invited the prominent British director Tyrone Guthrie to visit Stratford and help bring their idea of a Shakespearean theatre to fruition. Thomas Stewart Patterson FRSE LLD (1872–1949) was a Scottish organic chemist. Early life and education He was born in Greenock, in 1872, but his family came to Edinburgh in his youth and he was then educated at Merchiston Castle School. He then studied Chemistry at Andersonian college in Glasgow under Prof William Dittmar. He then went to Heidelberg where he gained his first doctorate (PhD) in 1896. He was greatly influenced there by Victor Meyer. Returning to Britain, he was the first Priestley scholar at the University of Birmingham. In 1904, he began lecturing in Chemistry at Glasgow University. In 1919, he became the first Gardiner chair of Organic Chemistry. Tommie J. Patterson (October 15, 1948 – February 1982) was an American professional basketball forward who played two seasons in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member of the Baltimore/Capital Bullets (1972–74). He attended Ouachita Baptist University, leaving college after his freshman season to enroll in the US Army for three years, before returning to Ouchita Baptist. Patterson was selected by the Bullets in the second round of the 1972 NBA draft as the 25th overall selection. Tom Patterson (born February 12, 1979) is an American entrepreneur, who founded the ''Tommy John'' company in 2008. Early life Patterson was raised in South Dakota. He graduated from Milbank High School in 1998 and went on to attend Arizona State University, where he graduated with a degree in business communications. Career Patterson began his career as a medical device salesman, a position from which he was released in wake of the Great Recession. Frequently wearing business attire as part of his position, Patterson became irritated with the fit of his undershirts, which led him to design a new undershirt for himself.
