Thomas Moore-Lane
Thomas Moore-Lane (22 January 1797 – 26 September 1844) was born in County Wexford, Ireland and was son of Robert Moore-Lane of Lansboro, and Emily Gordon. His surname has also been recorded as Moore Lane. Career Thomas Moore-Lane (F.R.C.S), was known as an oculist and surgeon and became a physician to the Nawab. He was also the private secretary to the Marquis of Tweedale, Sir Edward Gambier, Governor of Fort St. George. He was a member of the Royal College of Surgeons in 1820, an Assistant Surgeon on 19 January 1822 and a Surgeon on 13 November 1833. Nawab is a royal title indicating a ruler, often of a South Asian state, in many ways comparable to the Western title of Prince. The relationship of a Nawab to the Emperor of India has been compared to that of the Kingdom of Saxony, Kings of Saxony to the German Emperor. Edward John Gambier
Sir Edward John Gambier (1794–1879) was a colonial jurist and law officer, who served as a judge in British India, Chief Justice of Madras and Recorder of Penang, Singapore, Malacca. Early life Gambier was born in 1794. He was the third son of Sir Samuel Gambier, first commissioner of the navy (1752–1813), and Jane Mathew, the youngest daughter of Daniel Mathew of Felix Hall, Essex. He was also the nephew of Admiral James Gambier, 1st Baron Gambier. He entered Eton College in 1808, then went up to Trinity College, Cambridge, where he took his bachelor's degree in 1817. He was the first President of the Cambridge Union and was awarded ninth senior optime and junior chancellor's medallist. He proceeded to earn his M.A. in 1820 and became a fellow of his college.
