Thomas Krol
Thomas Krol (born 16 August 1992) is a retired Dutch speed skater, who is specialized in the 1000m and 1500m. Career Krol finished third at the ISU World Cup 1500m event in Berlin in December 2014. Krol is a member of Team Jumbo-Visma. In February 2022, at the Beijing Olympics, Krol won the men's 1000-meter race (1:07.92) and won the first Olympic gold medal of his career. In February 2024, the Dutchman announced his retirement and his intention to enroll in the KLM airline flight school. According to Krol, he had two dreams: to win the Olympics and to become a pilot. Deventer
Deventer (; Sallaans dialect, Sallands: ) is a List of cities in the Netherlands by province, city and Municipalities of the Netherlands, municipality in the Salland historical region of the Provinces of the Netherlands, province of Overijssel, Netherlands. In 2020 the municipality of Deventer had a population of 100,913. The city is largely situated on the east bank of the river IJssel, but it also has a small part of its territory on the west bank. In 2005 the municipality of Bathmen (with a population of about 5,000 people) was merged with Deventer as part of a national effort to reduce bureaucracy in the country. Deventer is one of the oldest cities in the Netherlands. The place is mentioned in 9th-century sources from the Diocese of Utrecht (695–1580), Diocese of Utrecht. The European Speed Skating Championships are a series of long track speed skating events held annually to determine the best speed skaters of Europe. History The International Skating Union has organised the European Championships for Men since 1893 (unofficial Championships were held in the years 1891–1892) and the European Championships for Women since 1970. Since 1990, the men's and women's European Championships have been held at the same time and venue. Starting in 2017, in odd years, the men's and women's European Sprint Speed Skating Championships are also held at the same time and venue.
