Thomas Joseph Kane (born September 5, 1961) is an American education economics, education economist who currently holds the position of Walter H. Gale Professor of Education and Economics at the Harvard Graduate School of Education. He has performed research on education policy, labour economics and econometrics. During Bill Clinton's first term as U.S. President, Kane served on the Council of Economic Advisers. Early life and education Kane earned a Bachelor of Arts, B.A. in economics from the University of Notre Dame in 1983, followed by an Master of Arts, M.A. in economics from the University of Michigan in 1986, a Master of Public Policy, M.P.P. and Ph.D. from Harvard University in 1988 and 1991. Thomas Kane (c. 1841 – unknown date of death) was a sailor in the U.S. Navy during the American Civil War. He received the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Second Battle of Fort Fisher on January 15, 1865. Military service Kane enlisted in the Navy from New Jersey in 1856, and was assigned to the Union steamer . The Slickee Boys were a Washington, D.C.-area punk rock, punk-psychedelic rock, psychedelic-garage rock band whose most-remembered lineup consisted of guitarist Marshall Keith, guitarist Kim Kane, singer Mark Noone and drummer Dan Palenski. Thomas Henry Kane (born January 14, 1964) is a Canadian former professional football player. He played for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL) for four years, and then for the Toronto Argonauts of the Canadian Football League (CFL) for one year. Football career Kane played college football at Syracuse University. NFL A third-round draft pick in 1988, Kane played for the Seattle Seahawks from 1988 to 1992, when his season ended early due to ankle and knee injuries. The Seahawks cut him during training camp in the following year CFL Kane moved to the Canadian Football League. He played five games for the Toronto Argonauts in 1994. At the end of his pro career, Kane volunteered at youth football camps sponsored by Montreal's Westend Sport Association, which he had attended as a youth.
