Thomas F. Allgood
Thomas F. Allgood (September 10, 1928 – August 4, 2000) was an American politician. He served as a Democratic member for the 22nd district of the Georgia State Senate. Life and career Allgood was born in Richmond County, Georgia. He served in the United States Army for a year. After that, Allgood attended Augusta University and Emory University School of Law, receiving two law degrees. Allgood was an attorney. In 1977, he was elected to represent the 22nd district of the Georgia State Senate and became majority leader in 1981. He left office in 1991 when he retired. Richmond County, Georgia
Richmond County is located in the state of Georgia in the U.S. As of the 2020 census, the population was 206,607. It is one of the original counties of Georgia, created on February 5, 1777. Following an election in 1995, Augusta (the county seat) consolidated governments with Richmond County. The consolidated entity is known as Augusta-Richmond County, or simply Augusta. Exempt are the cities of Hephzibah and Blythe, in southern Richmond County, which voted to remain separate. Richmond County is included in the Augusta-Richmond County, GA- SC metropolitan statistical area. An aviation accident is an event during aircraft operation that results serious injury, death, or significant destruction. An aviation incident is any operating event that compromises safety but does not escalate into an aviation accident. Preventing both accidents and incidents is the primary goal of aviation safety. One of the earliest recorded aviation accidents occurred on May 10, 1785, when a hot air balloon crashed in Tullamore, County Offaly, Ireland. The resulting fire seriously damaged the town, destroying over 130 homes. The first accident involving a powered aircraft occurred on September 17, 1908, when a Wright Model A crashed at Fort Myer, Virginia, USA. ''The Augusta Chronicle'' is the daily newspaper of Augusta, Georgia, and is one of the oldest newspapers in the United States still in publication. The paper is known for its coverage of the Masters Tournament, which is played in Augusta. History The paper was founded as the weekly ''Augusta Gazette'' in 1785. In 1786, the paper was renamed ''The Georgia State Gazette''. From 1789 to 1804, the paper was known as ''The Augusta Chronicle and Gazette of the State''. Patrick Walsh, later a U.S. Senator, joined the editorial staff in 1866 and became owner in 1873. In 1945, former bookkeeper William Morris Jr. bought a controlling interest in the paper. This was the beginning of Morris Communications, headquartered in Augusta with the ''Chronicle'' as its flagship.
