Thomas Dent Sr.
Col. Thomas Dent Sr., Gent. (1630–1676), Justice, Sheriff, and member of the Lower House of the Maryland General Assembly. Thomas was born about 1630 in the Parish of Guisborough, Yorkshire, England, making him slightly less than thirty years of age upon his arrival in America around 1658. He resided in Saint Mary's County, Maryland. Political career Thomas was a justice of St. Mary's County beginning in 1661, and became sheriff there in 1665, became coroner in 1669, and alderman in 1673. Thomas was a member of the Lower House, St. Mary's County from 1669 to 1675. Marriage Thomas wedded Rebecca Wilkinson (1633–1726) in 1659. Rebecca was the Virginia born daughter of the Rev. William Wilkinson (1612–1676) who emigrated from England and his first wife, Naomi Hughes (1616–1634). After Thomas died, Rebecca married in 1677 Col. Peter Dent
Peter Dent (born 9 May 1938) is an English editor, poet, and former school teacher whose poetry has moved from spare notations to linguistic experiments. Career Dent was born in Forest Gate, London, on 9 May 1938 but spent most of his childhood in Surrey. After serving in the Signals section of the RAF between 1957 and 9, he worked in offices and a library before training as a primary school teacher at Reading University. Thereafter he taught between 1971 and 1991. He was the editor/publisher of Interim Press from 1975 to 1987, starting this while living in Egham. In 1978 he moved to Budleigh Salterton, where he has lived since. He taught at Drakes Primary School, East Budleigh. Dent's poetry began as spare notations in which time, place and emotion form a unified whole, which identified him with the writers of '' Agenda'' magazine. Blenheim (Maryland)
Blenheim was the estate of the Lee family of Charles County, Maryland. It was owned by Capt. Philip Lee, Sr., Hon., Esq. (1681–1744). Its main house was demolished in the late 19th century. Philip had been living in Maryland about 14 years when he inherited from his father, Col. Richard Lee II, Esq. (1647–1715), a tract of land at Cedar Point in Maryland called the “Lee’s Purchase” plantation, of Stump Dale, on the Potomac River in Charles County. However, this property was occupied by a tenant with a sole and exclusive contract between 1705 and 1718. It was not until the later date that Philip would gain legal title to the land when the dispute between his father and another claimant to the land was settled by the Provincial Court. The property was only just being developed when Philip died in April 1744; his will was recorded in Charles County on May 1, 1744.
