Thomas Cobham (MP)
Thomas Cobham, 3rd Baron Cobham (c.1343 – 8 February 1394) was an English nobleman and politician. Life Thomas Cobham was the eldest son of Sir John Cobham (1319–61) of Randall in Shorne, Kent and the brother of John Cobham, also an MP for Kent. he succeeded his father in 1361, inheriting the manor of Randall and Allington Castle. His first wife was Maud Morice; his second, a woman named Beatrice, who outlived him. He died in 1394 and was buried in Birling church. His main heir was his son, Reynold, from his first marriage. Career In the early 1370s Cobham twice sailed to Ireland for military service with the King's lieutenant, William of Windsor. He also joined Thomas, Earl of Warwick, for the 1372 naval expedition to relieve La Rochelle. He was knighted by 1372. He was elected a Member of Parliament for Kent in 1376, May 1382, November 1384, and November 1390. Shorne
Shorne is a village and civil parish in the borough of Gravesham in Kent, England. The parish lies east of Gravesend. Most of the land is well-drained but its marshes, the Shorne Marshes reach down to the Thames Estuary and are an SSSI amid the North Kent Marshes on the Hoo Peninsula proper. History Shorne Barrow (or tumulus) and Randalls Wood Barrow are indications of stone age occupation. Randall Manor was a 14th-century manor, the remains of which are in Shorne Wood Country Park. Demographics According to the census results for 2001 there were 2,485 people in 1,028 households in the Parish of Shorne. Of those residents between the ages of 16 to 74, 60% had a higher qualification (at level 2 to 5) and 86% of the dwellings were owner occupied. The population of Shorne Parish at the 2011 census was 2487 residents in 1033 households. John Cobham (MP)
John Cobham (died 12 November 1399) was an English politician. Life Cobham was the son of John Cobham of Hever, Kent. His brother, Thomas Cobham, was also an MP for Kent. He married three times. Before 1363, he married Juliana, a widow from Sittingbourne, Kent. Around 1375, he married Joan d’Oyley from Staffordshire, also a widow. At some point before June 1398, he married a woman named Margaret. Career Cobham was Member of Parliament for Sussex 1378 and 1385, Surrey January 1380, April 1384, November 1384 and Kent January 1390, 1394 and September 1397.
