The European Parliament (EP) is one of the two legislative bodies of the European Union and one of its seven institutions. The Labour Party (, PL), formerly known as the Malta Labour Party (, MLP), is the oldest political party in Malta, and one of the two major parties alongside the Nationalist Party. It sits on the centre-left of the political spectrum. The party was founded in 1921 as the Chamber of Labour by a small group of trade unionists. The 2024 European Parliament election was held in Malta on 8 June 2024 in tandem with 2024 Maltese local elections, local elections. It was the fifth election to the European Parliament.
