Thomas A. Simone Award
The Thomas A. Simone Memorial Football Award is presented yearly to the most outstanding high school football player in the Kansas City Metropolitan Area. The award was created in 1931 by Dr. D. M. Nigro and continued until Dr. Nigro's death in 1976. The award was reinstated by Mr. and Mrs. Anthony Simone as a tribute to their 12-year-old son Tommy. The award is selected by a vote of the Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association (GKCFCA), head coaches in the metro area and selected media members. It is one of the Simone Awards presented annually to players, coaches and broadcasters for their outstanding contributions to high school football in the Kansas City area The Greater Kansas City Football Coaches Association, as well as select area media members, are responsible for the administration of the Thomas A. Chase Coffman
Chase Allen Coffman (born November 10, 1986) is a former American football tight end. He played college football for the University of Missouri, earned consensus All-American honors, and was recognized as the best college tight end in the country. He was chosen by the Cincinnati Bengals in the third round of the 2009 NFL Draft. Early years Coffman was born in Lee's Summit, Missouri and played high school football at Raymore–Peculiar High School in nearby Peculiar. Coffman had a great high school career receiving passes from his younger brother Carson. He earned first-team all-state honors three times and was a two-time first-team all-district and all-conference pick. Graham Mertz
Graham Mertz (born December 6, 2000) is an American football quarterback for the Florida Gators. He previously played for the Wisconsin Badgers before transferring to Florida in 2023. Early life and high school career Mertz's first two years of high school were spent at Bishop Miege High School in Roeland Park, Kansas. While there, he played high school football and backed up all-state quarterback Carter Putz. Before his junior year, Mertz transferred to Blue Valley North High School in Overland Park, Kansas. He led Blue Valley North to a Class 6A state championship as a junior, and to state runner-up as a senior. Ronnie Bell (American Football)
Ronnie Bell (born January 28, 2000) is an American football wide receiver for the Michigan Wolverines. He was Michigan's offensive rookie of the year in 2018 and led the 2019 team with 48 receptions for 758 yards. Early years Bell was a multi-sport athlete at Park Hill High School in Kansas City, Missouri. As a senior, he caught 89 passes for 1,605 yards and 21 touchdowns, but he was not ranked in the top 1,000 high school football recruits. He originally committed as a basketball player to Missouri State. After initially receiving no Division I FBS scholarship offers to play football, he was recruited late by Jim Harbaugh and in December 2017 committed to play football for the University of Michigan. Staley High School
Staley High School is a state school, public High schools in the United States, high school in Kansas City, Missouri. It is one of the four high schools in the North Kansas City School District along with North Kansas City High School, Oak Park High School (Kansas City), Oak Park High School, and Winnetonka High School. The school was named after the nearby Staley Farms and the road of the same name. The school opened in the 2008–09 school year with an enrollment of nearly 1,000 students from Oak Park High School. Skylar John Thompson (born June 4, 1997) is an American football quarterback for the Miami Dolphins of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Kansas State and was drafted by the Dolphins in the seventh round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Early life Thompson was born to Brad Thompson and Teresa Thompson in Palmyra, Missouri on June 4, 1997. Andrew Stephen Lock (born November 10, 1996) is an American football quarterback for the Seattle Seahawks of the National Football League (NFL). He played college football at Missouri and was drafted by the Denver Broncos in the second round of the 2019 NFL Draft. Lee's Summit West High School is located at 2600 Southwest Ward Road in Lee's Summit, Missouri, United States. It opened in the fall of 2004 and is part of the Lee's Summit R-VII School District. Gardner Edgerton High School (commonly called GE or GEHS) is a fully accredited public high school located in Gardner, Kansas, United States. It is the only high school in the Gardner–Edgerton USD 231 school district. The school colors are blue and white. Derek "Bubba" Starling (born August 3, 1992) is an American former professional baseball outfielder. He spent his entire career in Major League Baseball (MLB) with the Kansas City Royals organization. Amateur career Starling graduated in 2011 from Gardner Edgerton High School in Gardner, Kansas.
