"This Boy" is a song by the English rock band the Beatles, written by John Lennon (credited to Lennon–McCartney). It was released in November 1963 as the B-side of the band's Parlophone single "I Want to Hold Your Hand". In the United States, it was issued in January 1964 on '' Meet the Beatles!'' which was Capitol Records' reconfigured version of the ''With the Beatles'' album. The Beatles performed the song live on 16 February 1964 for their second appearance on ''The Ed Sullivan Show''. An instrumental easy listening arrangement by George Martin, re-titled "Ringo's Theme (This Boy)", was featured in the film '' A Hard Day's Night'' and the United Artists soundtrack album. Edward Vincent Sullivan (September 28, 1901 – October 13, 1974) was an American television host, impresario, sports and entertainment reporter, and syndicated columnist for the ''New York Daily News'' and the Chicago Tribune New York News Syndicate. The Teddy Bears
The Teddy Bears were an American pop music group. They were record producer Phil Spector's first vocal group. History Following graduation from Fairfax High School in Los Angeles, California, Phil Spector became obsessed with " To Know Him Is to Love Him", a song he had written for his group, the Teddy Bears. After a hasty audition at Era Records, which offered to finance a studio session, the Teddy Bears – Phil Spector, Marshall Leib, Harvey Goldstein (who left the group early on), lead singer Annette Kleinbard, and last-minute recruit, drummer Sandy Nelson – recorded the song at Gold Star Studios at a cost of $75. I've Been Good To You
"I've Been Good to You" is a 1961 R&B song by the Miracles on Motown Records' Tamla label. It was released as the B-side of their ''Billboard'' Top 40 hit, " What's So Good About Goodbye", and was included on their album '' I'll Try Something New'' the following year. This sad, melancholy ballad charted #103 on the ''Billboard'' Pop chart. Despite its relatively modest chart placing, this song has been hugely influential, and is noted as Beatle John Lennon's favorite Miracles tune, and was the inspiration for the Beatles' songs "This Boy" and "Sexy Sadie". Smokey Robinson
William "Smokey" Robinson Jr. (born February 19, 1940) is an American R&B and soul singer, songwriter, record producer, and former record executive. He was the founder and frontman of the pioneering Motown vocal group the Miracles, for which he was also chief songwriter and producer. He led the group from its 1955 origins, when they were called The Five Chimes, until 1972, when he retired from the group to focus on his role as Motown Records vice president. ''The Beatles in Mono'' is a boxed set compilation comprising the remastered monaural recordings by the Beatles. ''Past Masters'' is a two-disc compilation album set by the English rock band the Beatles. It was originally released as two separate volumes on 7 March 1988, as part of the first issue of the band's catalogue on compact disc. The album contains all songs released commercially by the band that were not available on the Beatles' 12 original UK albums or the US '' Magical Mystery Tour'' LP. It was compiled by Beatles historian Mark Lewisohn, who also wrote the liner notes.
