Cooking Vinyl is a British independent record label, based in Acton, London, England. It was founded in 1986 by former manager and booking agent Martin Goldschmidt and his business partner Pete Lawrence. Goldschmidt remains the current owner and chairman, while Rob Collins is managing director. Martin Glover
Martin Glover (born 27 December 1960), better known by his stage name Youth, is a British musician and record producer, best known as a founding member and bassist of the rock band Killing Joke. He is also a member of The Fireman (band), the Fireman, along with Paul McCartney. Early career Martin Glover was born on 27 December 1960 in Slough, at that point part of Buckinghamshire, England. He attended Private schools in the United Kingdom, private boarding school Kingham Hill School in Oxfordshire, where he met Alex Paterson, who would become a roadie for Glover's band Killing Joke, and later founder of the Orb. ''@Reverend_Makers'' is the third studio album by English band Reverend and the Makers, released on 18 June 2012. The album's lead single was "Bassline" and was released on 13 February 2012, via free download from the band's Facebook page. The band toured the UK following the album release, after a stint supporting Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds in the second quarter of the year. The second single, 'The Wrestler', was released on 14 May. Upon release, the album debuted at number 16 on the UK Albums Chart, three places higher than the band's second album, while the third single "Out of the Shadows" was released in August. Jon McClure (born 22 December 1981), known as The Reverend, is an English musician. He is the lead singer and frontman of Reverend and The Makers, and ex-vocalist of 1984 and Judan Suki. He says that the name "Reverend" became his moniker because "I'm a big mouth and always running on at people". Early life Jon McClure was born in the Sheffield suburb Grenoside, and grew up there with his parents and brother Chris. He has known Ed Cosens since childhood and in Notre Dame High School. He went on to become a poet, and began blogging on the internet. Early career Judan Suki McClure's first band was Judan Suki, which featured Ed Cosens and Laura Manuel from The Makers. The Official Albums Chart is the United Kingdom's industry-recognised national record chart for album, albums. Entries are ranked by sales and audio streaming. It was published for the first time on 22 July 1956 and is compiled every week by the Official Charts Company (OCC) on Fridays (previously Sundays). It is broadcast on BBC Radio 1 (top 5) and found on the OCC website as a Top 100 or on ''UKChartsPlus'' as a Top 200, with positions continuing until all sales have been tracked in data only available to industry insiders. ''The State of Things'' is the debut studio album by English alternative rock band Reverend and The Makers. It reached number 5 in the UK Albums Chart, selling just over 25,000 copies in its first week. Critical reception The album received positive reviews, with ''Uncut'' saying "the record is a tribute to McClure's charisma and unswerving self-belief". The first single, " Heavyweight Champion of the World", reached the top ten and was played on BBC Radio 1's ''Live Lounge''. Other songs on the album, notably " He Said He Loved Me" and "The Machine" become fan favourites and were played in their concerts, including the band's three night run at Wembley Stadium supporting Oasis. Stephen Neil Edwards, better known by his stage name Steve Edwards, is an English house music singer and songwriter from Sheffield, England. He has collaborated with several house music producers. Biography During the 1990s, Edwards lent his collaborative efforts to British deep house musician Charles Webster, the most notable being "Future Love", a track released by Presence, one of Webster's pseudonyms. He started appearing as a featured artist on tracks by the Problem Kids. However, Edwards' first mainstream breakthrough was Cassius' " The Sound of Violence".
