Thinner (film)
''Thinner'' (marketed as ''Stephen King's Thinner'') is a 1996 American body horror film directed by Tom Holland and written by Michael McDowell and Holland. The film is based on Stephen King's 1984 novel of the same name (which he wrote under the pseudonym Richard Bachman) and stars Robert John Burke and Joe Mantegna. In the film, an obese lawyer who accidentally kills a Romani woman is cursed by the woman's father to rapidly lose weight. ''Thinner'' was released in the United States on October 25, 1996, by Paramount Pictures. It received mostly negative reviews and grossed $15.3 million against a budget of $8 million. Producer Mitchell Gallin regarded the script as the best he had ever worked with, but thought the final film did not do it justice. Tom Holland (filmmaker)
Thomas Lee Holland (born July 11, 1943) is an American filmmaker. He is best known for his work in the horror film genre, penning the 1983 sequel to the classic Alfred Hitchcock film ''Psycho'', directing and co-writing the first entry in the long-running ''Child's Play'' franchise, and writing and directing the cult vampire film ''Fright Night''. He also directed the Stephen King adaptations '' The Langoliers'' and ''Thinner''. He is a two-time Saturn Award recipient. Dignified death, death with dignity, dying with dignity or dignity in dying is an ethical concept aimed at avoiding suffering and maintaining control and autonomy in the end-of-life process. A ball bearing is a type of rolling-element bearing that uses balls to maintain the separation between the bearing races. The purpose of a ball bearing is to reduce rotational friction and support radial and axial loads.
